Shift:
Variable Shift (Weekends & OT Expected) Position Summary PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking an experienced FAA 787 General Mechanic C to support depot-level and heavy maintenance operations. This role involves complex aircraft maintenance tasks, including flight controls, landing gear, engines, and structural modifications. Successful candidates must be safety-focused, detail-oriented, and able to work variable shifts in a fast-paced environment. Job Responsibilities Perform installation, removal, rigging, and servicing of flight controls and landing gear Conduct essential component change-outs, including servo pumps, filters, and engine components Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements Perform structural modification and repair Access aircraft data through computer systems and initiate online parts and discrepancy requests Diagnose and correct assembly process malfunctions Utilize precision measuring instruments, gauges, and tools to verify dimensions and quality conformance Ensure all equipment is used in compliance with established safety and operating procedures Maintain all required certifications, licenses, and permits Support Avionics, Structures, and Electrical teams to meet cost and schedule targets
Job Requirements:
5+ years of depot-level or heavy general aircraft maintenance experience 5+ years working aircraft interior and exterior systems, including: Hydraulic systems Flight controls Landing gear Fuel systems Engines Aircraft monuments 5+ years interpreting schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures Willingness to work variable shifts, weekends, and overtime Familiarity with Hazardous Energy and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 35 pounds Requires badging at El Segundo badge office as there is no badge office in Victorville Preferred Qualifications FAA A&P Certification Heavy C and D Check experience 787 experience Aircraft heavy maintenance, depot-level maintenance, or modification experience Experience performing aircraft engine runs and borescope inspections Ability to operate: Forklift Mobile crane Riding-type electric powered elevating equipmen Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required Typically 5+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., vocational school, associate degree + experience) Physical Demands & Work Environment Lifting, bending, standing, operating machinery Working outdoors up to 30% of the time Successful completion of OJT and/or formal classroom training required OT/DOT expectations: Yes — contractors should expect weekend work Benefits offered to vary by the contract.
