The Avionics Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all avionics functions performed by the repair station, both at the fixed base and off-site locations. This role requires demonstrated experience working with corporate aircraft and hands-on expertise with corporate avionics systems.
The position holds full accountability for ensuring avionics installation, repair, inspection, and testing activities are executed in compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, Repair Station procedures, and customer requirements, and includes responsibility for developing accurate project quotes covering labor, materials, and timelines.
The Avionics Manager provides both technical leadership and supervisory oversight to avionics personnel, ensures proper use and upkeep of test equipment, and oversees accurate documentation and execution of avionics work orders.
Key Responsibilities
Avionics Maintenance & Installation
Lead and support troubleshooting, repair, modification, and installation of avionics systems on corporate aircraft.
Oversee avionics upgrade projects, including navigation, communication, ADS-B, connectivity, and cockpit modernization.
Ensure all work aligns with FAA regulations, manufacturer data, STCs, and internal repair station procedures.
Review installation plans, wiring schematics, and engineering documentation to confirm proper integration and compliance.
Project Management & Quoting
Prepare detailed avionics installation estimates, including labor, parts, and projected timelines.
Partner with sales, customers, and maintenance leadership to define scope and assess technical feasibility.
Coordinate installation schedules to support efficient workflow and timely aircraft delivery.
Proactively identify risks, potential challenges, and cost considerations ahead of project kickoff.
Technical Leadership
Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight to avionics technicians and installers.
Support troubleshooting efforts and help resolve complex system integration issues.
Ensure completed work meets quality standards and adheres to approved technical data.
Contribute to training and development to strengthen team capabilities.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
Job Requirements:
Regulatory & Qualification Requirements
Must be qualified in accordance with 14 CFR Part 65
Must meet the experience and qualification requirements necessary to operate pitot/static and avionics test equipment applicable to assigned duties
Must be familiar with:
Methods, techniques, and practices used to perform avionics maintenance and alterations
Applicable regulations including:
14 CFR § 43 Appendix E
FAR 91.207(d), 91.411, and 91.413
Must hold appropriate FAA certification under 14 CFR Part 65, as required by 14 CFR § 145.153(b)(1)
Upon verification and documentation of qualifications, the individual will be listed on the Repair Station Roster

Maintain compliance with FAA Part 145 requirements and company quality standards.
Review and sign off on maintenance records, logbook entries, and work orders.
Ensure accurate documentation within maintenance tracking systems.
Assist with internal audits and FAA inspections related to avionics operations.
Operational Support
Collaborate with maintenance leadership to support overall aircraft maintenance operations.
Assist with sourcing and identifying parts for avionics installations.
Provide support for aircraft-on-ground (AOG) situations as needed.
Promote a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
Job Requirements
FAA Airframe (A) or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification
FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) preferred
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in avionics or electronics is a plus
Experience
8-10 years of experience in corporate aircraft avionics maintenance or installation
2-3 years of lead or supervisory experience within an MRO or repair station environment preferred
Hands-on experience with corporate avionics systems (e.g., Garmin, Collins, Honeywell, Universal, Gogo)
Background in STC installations, system integration, and wiring modifications
Technical Skills
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with aircraft electrical and avionics systems
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, installation drawings, and maintenance manuals
Working knowledge of Part 145 repair station operations and FAA compliance requirements
Experience developing labor and material estimates for avionics projects

Delegation of Authority
The Avionics Manager may delegate duties and responsibilities to qualified personnel as appropriate. Delegation does not relieve the Avionics Manager of overall responsibility or accountability for avionics operations and regulatory compliance.
