Job Summary LB Aircraft Engineering is seeking a dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and forward-thinking Avionics Engineer II to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have experience in avionics systems integration, aircraft modifications, and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) development. This mid-level role offers the opportunity to work on innovative avionics projects across a variety of commercial and special mission aircraft platforms while supporting certification efforts with theFAA, EASA, and other regulatory authorities. The successful candidate will be passionate about aviation, possess strong technical and problem-solving skills, and be capable of developing engineering solutions from concept through certification and aircraft installation. Key Responsibilities Collaborate and assist in the design and integration of avionics systems (electrical components) for aircraft modification and upgrade programs. Prepare, review, and validate engineering documentation, including wiring diagrams, schematics, installation drawings, engineering orders (EOs), test procedures, and compliance reports. Assist in the development and support of STC certification packages, including certification plans, compliance documentation, weight and balance reports, wiring diagrams, installation instructions, and test plans. Perform aircraft systems analysis and integration activities to ensure compatibility, functionality, and regulatory compliance. Support avionics system testing, troubleshooting, validation, and certification activities. Coordinate with customers, suppliers, installers, and internal departments to define technical requirements and resolve engineering issues. Collaborate with Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs), Designated Airworthiness Representatives (DARs), FAA personnel, and other certification stakeholders. Research and evaluate emerging avionics technologies, products, and industry trends to support innovative engineering solutions. Ensure engineering work complies with
FAA, EASA, RTCA DO-160, RTCA
DO-178, and applicable aircraft certification requirements. Support configuration management, document control, and quality management system requirements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Avionics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in avionics engineering, aircraft systems integration, aircraft modification programs, or a related aerospace engineering field. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Proficiency in AutoCAD, including the development of wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and installation drawings. Strong technical writing, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications Five (5) or more years of avionics systems engineering experience. Minimum of two (2) years supporting Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) development and certification projects. Experience drafting and reviewing Engineering Orders (EOs), certification reports, and compliance documentation. Strong knowledge of FAA Part 23 and Part 25 certification requirements, STC processes, and aircraft modification programs. Working knowledge of aircraft communications, navigation, surveillance, flight management, SATCOM, connectivity, and cabin systems. Experience coordinating with DERs, DARs, ODA organizations, FAA, or EASA certification authorities. Familiarity with RTCA DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, and ARINC standards. Demonstrated interest in emerging avionics technologies, connected aircraft solutions, and next-generation aviation systems.
