Job Description

Summary/Objective:
Pro Star Aviation is an advanced industry leader in aircraft maintenance, avionics, aircraft modification, custom engineering, and certification. As an Avionics technician, you will directly support Production with troubleshooting of avionics electrical systems such as, but not limited to, communications, navigation, autopilot, altimeter, lighting, power generation and distribution. The ideal candidate will also have experience with electrical terminations, continuity checks, functional tests of avionics systems and troubleshooting faults down to the Line Replacement Unit level. Candidates must be willing to travel locally in the Grand Rapids, MI area, be self-motivated and have demonstrated customer service skills.
Essential Functions:
Read and understand complex electrical drawings and schematics Troubleshoot, repair, and test avionics and instrument systems on various airframes. Experience using basic hand tools, aircraft test equipment and electrical test equipment Properly document work completed in accordance with appropriate technical data and Pro Star approved procedures Accompany flight crews to perform in-flight testing as well as preliminary avionics and instrument systems testing as required Communicate and interact professionally with customers to educate or answer questions regarding technical aspects within area of expertise Travel to customer locations to perform essential job functions though Pro Star's On-the-Fly service Support the AOG Team as required with Avionics and Electrical troubleshooting Complete all training requirements schedule by the Pro Star Training Department, to include regular completion of OJT forms Maintain accurate and complete time records for both attendance as well as labor Other duties as assigned by management
Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Familiar with FAA regulations
  • Experience using standard test equipment (i.e., Multimeter, Pitot/Static/Nav/XPDR test sets)
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Experience reading Engineering Drawings and specifications
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant License
  • Some related work experience in Corporate Aviation
  • Avionics or Electrical education
Supervisory Responsibility:
None Work Environment:
Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the hangar. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. This position is very active and the employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl all day. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. No specific vision requirements. Objects weighing 70 pounds or more must be accompanied by a second individual to avoid injury. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
