Job Description

Confidential Opportunity - Airport Engineer (Aviation Civil Design) | Remote (Florida Preferred) A growing and highly specialized civil engineering consulting firm focused on aviation infrastructure is seeking an experienced Airport Engineer to join its expanding team. This is a confidential opportunity to work on impactful airport planning, design, and construction projects throughout Florida and beyond. The firm provides full-service engineering support for airport owners and agencies, delivering solutions across airside and landside infrastructure. Projects include runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, drainage systems, pavement design, and associated civil improvements. The team works closely with federal, state, and local aviation stakeholders to deliver compliant, efficient, and high-quality infrastructure solutions. This role is remote, with preference given to candidates located in Florida due to coordination with regional agencies and airport clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support the design of airport infrastructure projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, drainage systems, and airfield/landside improvements Develop engineering plans, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents in compliance with FAA Advisory Circulars, FDOT standards, and applicable regulations Coordinate with FAA, FDOT, airport sponsors, permitting agencies, and subconsultants throughout project development Support grant-funded project compliance and coordination requirements for FAA and FDOT programs Assist with construction administration including submittal review, RFIs, and occasional site visits Collaborate with CAD designers and project managers to deliver accurate and timely project deliverables Contribute to proposal preparation, client engagement, and business development efforts Participate in client meetings, industry outreach, and aviation-related events to support firm growth
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline Minimum of 5 years of experience in airport engineering or aviation-focused civil design Experience with FAA Advisory Circulars and FDOT design standards Strong understanding of airfield design, pavement systems, grading, drainage, and stormwater design Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with a distributed team Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required
Preferred Attributes:
Experience with FAA-funded or FDOT-funded aviation projects Exposure to both design and construction administration phases of airport projects Interest in business development and client relationship building
