• Position Overview
• As a Heavy Structures Mechanic, you will perform structural repairs, modifications, and installations on advanced aircraft systems.

You'll work hands-on with critical airframe components, supporting complex maintenance activities that ensure aircraft safety, reliability, and performance. Your experience with heavy structures, sheet metal fabrication, and precision drilling will play a vital role in supporting one of the industry's most important aerospace programs.

• Key Responsibilities
• + Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, fastening, removal, and installation on aircraft structures and fracture-critical areas + Install and repair structural components including: + Doublers + Triplers + Stringers + Seat tracks + Structural supports + Locate and drill blind holes for structural component installation + Execute sealing, shimming, painting, corrosion prevention, and preservation procedures + Read and interpret: + Engineering drawings + Technical manuals + Blueprints + Technical orders and specifications + Perform structural modifications and repairs in accordance with approved procedures + Utilize specialized structures tools and equipment including: + Rivet guns + Torque wrenches + Countersink cages + Dial indicators + Micrometers + Sheet metal brakes + 45° and 90° drills + Access computerized systems for work instructions, documentation, and maintenance tracking + Troubleshoot and repair structural, hydraulic, and mechanical aircraft systems + Support and occasionally lead complex maintenance and modification activities + Complete accurate aircraft maintenance records and logbook documentation + Operate support equipment including forklifts, cranes, and elevated work platforms + Maintain compliance with all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements •Required Qualifications•+ Minimum 4+ years of heavy aircraft structures experience + Proven experience performing: + Close-tolerance drilling + Reaming + Fastener installation + Structural assembly and modification + Experience working with aerospace-grade metals including: + Aluminum + Titanium + Stainless steel + Strong ability to read and interpret: + Schematics + Engineering drawings + Blueprints + Technical manuals + Hands-on experience using aircraft structures and sheet metal tools + Thorough understanding of aircraft structural repair methods and procedures + Basic computer proficiency and experience with aircraft maintenance systems + Knowledge of shop mathematics and standard aerospace practices + Ability to obtain customer approval for aircraft access + Background check required + Dual citizenship may affect eligibility + Ability to meet physical requirements including: + Climbing ladders + Working in confined spaces + Standing for extended periods + Lifting and overhead work + Wearing required PPE + Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance •Preferred Qualifications•+ FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant (A&P) certification + Experience with: + Depot-level aircraft maintenance + Heavy modification programs + VIP or specialty aircraft interiors + Executive fleet aircraft platforms •Work Environment•+ Variable shifts including weekends and holidays based on operational demands + Work performed in hangars, elevated platforms, and confined spaces + Exposure to aircraft noise, mechanical equipment, and industrial environments + Must maintain required certifications and follow all safety procedures •Why Join PDS Tech Commercial?
