We believe that e-bikes can change the world and exist to inspire confident riders in Chicago and beyond. We are an independently owned shop that has seen steady growth in the last several years and are excited to welcome a new mechanic to our service center. Our customer base spreads across Chicagoland and the midwest, serving hundreds of customers locally and adding more each year. You're the right person for this job if… You're a bike mechanic with experience and good organization skills. This is a hands-on position diagnosing and servicing bikes. You should be comfortable managing your own workload, making decisions independently, and pitching in on any task. You have an attention to detail and a willingness to stick with a problem until it's solved. We diagnose, repair, service, and educate about our customers' bikes. You're a good communicator. As a small shop, we don't follow a traditional management hierarchy and instead rely on open communication to ensure the shop is running smoothly for everyone. How we work We are a small but mighty shop with a self-led work environment where everyone is expected to contribute within their role, often without explicit direction. Responsibilities Assembling new e-bikes and performing quality checks Diagnosing, repairing, and servicing customer bikes, treating both mechanical issues and electronic malfunctions Keeping records of service and repairs Communicating with customers about services performed, timelines for pickup, and schedules for maintenance Maintaining tools and equipment for an organized, safe workspace Assisting with ordering and managing parts inventory Maintaining current e-bike certifications Qualifications Experience working as a bike mechanic Experience with e-bikes preferred but not required Able to lift 40+ pounds Excellent communication skills, willingness to interact with customers in an accessible way Self-motivated and proactive, able to manage your own schedule while being organized and punctual Attention to detail, problem-solving, and a desire to continually learn and share knowledge Comfortable with basic computer software and ability to log tasks using your smartphone Benefits Flexible schedule Use of related tools Employee discounts Stocked snack bar •waiting period may apply
