Job Description

Edgartown Bicycles is a full service, family and pro/enthusiast friendly shop on the island of Martha's Vineyard. We are an authorized Trek and Specialized dealer center and offer a full range of services. Edgartown Bicycles supports the Island through family, youth and community clinics, MTB and Gravel events, guided tours and weekly rides. If you are looking to be a key member of an award-winning team we'd love to talk. We are looking for an experienced Bike Mechanic who can be the go-to leader for our busy service team. A mechanic's mechanic with a deep passion for cycling, who knows bicycles and parts. A seasoned leader with a proactive, problem-solving team attitude and great personality are the characteristics we seek. 3-5+ years prior experience working as a bicycle mechanic is a requirement for this position. In this job you will assist our team and work independently, Help coordinate daily/weekly service workflow, Assemble and prepare bikes for sale. Perform a variety of service functions on customers' bikes, including tune-ups, flat tire repairs etc. Provide customer service through direct and detailed interaction with customers. Assist with sales as needed.

Able to see around corners Mechanically skilled Dependable People-oriented Able to work independently Detail-oriented Positive & friendly Able to multitask to meet deadlines Good at solving problems Able to listen and follow directions Duties Pending Skill-set & Role Duties include but are not limited to: Apply shop standards and follow protocols in the assembly and repair of bikes (includes tuneups, flat tire repairs, gear adjustments, accessory installations etc.) Evaluate the mechanical condition of bikes and determine what is needed to properly repair Follow detailed work and sales orders to accurately complete job and paperwork Assist in receiving and accurately checking in bicycle & parts orders Maintain shop cleanliness including bench and common workspace. Align wheels, adjust brakes and brake pads, adjust shifter & brake cables, install tires etc. Explain basic product information to customers who are picking up new bikes or rentals Other duties as needed/assigned. [Social Media content creation and posting] [Sales pending knowledge and experience] Requirements Requirements include but are not limited to: Minimum 3 year experience working as a technician/mechanic in a bike shop. Bike assembly experience Work in a team environment committed to providing an exceptional customer experience Strong attention to detail and directions Ability to clearly communicate with other employees and customers in a friendly, professional manner Interest in developing own skills, knowledge and career as a professional trades-person Availability to work a flexible schedule based on seasonal business needs, some evenings & weekends are required Ability to lift bicycles and boxes that weigh between 20-45 pounds Additional job requirements Preferred candidates will have knowledge and experience in any or all of the following systems : Prior experience working as a mechanic in a bicycle shop Experience with warranty policies and communication with vendors is a bonus Diagnostic testing for electric drive-trains and e-bikes a bonus Super bonus - wheel building and minimal shock/suspension overhaul and tuning Benefits We offer housing to qualified employees that are working full-time 5-6 days a week We offer a very competitive hourly wage (with pay commensurate with shop experience)and in measurement to housing cost.
