Job Description

General Purpose of Job:
The Equipment Technician Trainee, with the assistance of a Senior Tech or Trainer, is responsible for providing prompt, effective service to fitness equipment in LA Fitness clubs to ensure correct and safe operation. The Trainee is learning to perform preventive maintenance according to established procedures and schedules. The Equipment Tech Trainee is scheduled by his or her Regional Manager to work closely with a Senior Equipment Technician to help develop working knowledge and skills to troubleshoot and repair all Fitness Equipment in assigned clubs. The overall purpose of the Equipment Technician Trainee is to learn the overall job and responsibilities of an Equipment Technician and to develop the skills necessary to support clubs in his assigned territory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Equipment Technician Trainee has the same responsibilities as other technicians but is still developing knowledge of the fitness equipment and how to troubleshoot and repair equipment in an efficient and timely manner. The Equipment Technician Trainee is a learning position.
  • Learning the technical and administrative task of the job.
  • With direction from the Senior Tech or Trainer, meet with other Equipment Technicians in the service territory to assist with equipment repair, and special projects.
  • Upon direction from the Senior Tech or Trainer, learn to use the iPad to open and close repair issues in the club, manage Parts Inventory in the company van.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
Must have the following basic skills:
  • Minimum 1 year experience in servicing mechanical/electrical equipment.
  • Understand and know how to use a multimeter and other basic tools.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Must project a professional image.
Equipment Technician Requirements:
  • Good technical competence, including understanding of electronic, electrical, electromechanical and mechanical systems.
  • Absolute reliability and honesty.
  • Must have own mechanics tools
  • Must be able to lift 60 lbs., bend, climb, and kneel, frequently.
  • Flexibility and ability to perform under abruptly changing priorities when necessary.
  • Legal right to work in the U.
S. with a valid Drivers' License and a clean DMV record.
Pay:
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
