Job Description

Job Overview North Star Sports is looking to hiring experienced bike mechanics and assemblers for part-time and full time positions. Salary is based on experience and references. What you'll be doing:
  • Bike assembling
  • Wheel truing
  • Derailleur Adjusting
  • Brake Bleeding
  • Service Writing
  • Work on Suspension (experience is a huge plus)
  • Work on Electric Bikes (experience is a huge plus) What you'll need:
  • A willingness to learn if not proficient
  • Experience with bikes
  • Customer service
  • Time management skills Who is North Star Sports?
  • North Star Sports sells a variety of products such as full suspension mountain bikes, gravel bikes and e-bikes. We also have a very busy rental business that starts during late spring. We have been in business for 40+ years.
  • We are a small, fun team that supports each other. (Yes this includes furry friends; we have 2 dogs that work with us every day!)
  • We are centrally located: 2 blocks away from Church Street on the corner of Main Street and Pine Street which makes walking, biking and driving to work easy.

Responsibilities Perform comprehensive repairs and maintenance on bicycles, including brake adjustments, gear tuning, wheel truing, and suspension servicing Assemble new bikes from parts, ensuring proper fit and function for each customer Use hand tools and power tools skillfully to complete repairs efficiently and accurately Conduct vehicle maintenance tasks such as tire replacements, chain adjustments, and drivetrain repairs Diagnose mechanical issues through thorough inspections and recommend appropriate solutions to customers Provide exceptional customer service by explaining repairs, offering cycling advice, and promoting related products or accessories Assist with retail sales by managing inventory, processing transactions accurately, and maintaining a clean work environment Qualifications Proven experience as a bicycle service technician or mechanic with a strong mechanical knowledge base Familiarity with suspension systems and brake repair techniques Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized cycling equipment for assembly and repairs Experience with vehicle maintenance tasks such as tire changes, drivetrain adjustments, and general bike tune-ups Ability to lift heavy bikes or parts safely during repairs or inventory management Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly Knowledge of cycling trends, products, and retail math principles to support sales efforts Join us in creating an energetic environment where your mechanical skills help riders achieve their goals!
