Mobile Bicycle Mechanic ($20-30/hr)

About Us:

We are a mobile bike repair social enterprise serving the South Sound. We bring the shop to the rider via our fully-equipped service van to fix bikes at homes, events, workplaces, and community sites across Pierce County and beyond. We're growing and looking for a skilled mechanic who can work mostly independently, represent the brand well, and genuinely cares about keeping people on bikes.

The Role:

This is a part-time, field-based position. You'll perform mobile repair and tune-up services at scheduled stops and on-demand calls. The van's current home base is near 6th/Union Ave in Tacoma. You must have a clean driving record and be able to reliably commute there to collect the van before your appointments. Depending on fit and interest, there may be opportunities to take on more hours as we expand. What You'll Do Diagnose and repair a full range of bike issues in the field (drivetrain, brakes, wheels, suspension, cables, etc.) Perform standard tune-ups and safety inspections Communicate clearly with customers about work needed and completed Maintain a tidy workspace while keeping track of parts used Represent our business professionally in the community What We're Looking For Substantial experience and demonstrated competence working on bikes Comfort working independently and in the community Strong communication and customer service instincts Familiarity with a wide range of bike types (road, MTB, commuter, e-bike a plus) Honest, detail-oriented, and takes pride in their work Logistics Part-time, flexible schedule, around 5-15 hours per week. You'll tell us your availability, and we handle the scheduling.

Compensation:

$20-30/hr, depends on experience Based in South Sound; primary service area includes the Tacoma/Pierce County Area.
