Job Description

Fencing Installation Technician / Foreman Dimond | Fairbanks, Alaska Position Overview Dimond is hiring fencing professionals for both Foreman and Installer-level positions. Work includes installation of a wide range of fencing systems across residential, commercial, and remote projects throughout Alaska. These are field-based roles focused on production, durability, and precision in demanding environments. Applicants should be capable of working outdoors, maintaining pace, and delivering quality results. Position Levels Foreman Responsible for running job sites, leading crews, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. Installer Supports installation crews with layout, post setting, material handling, and system installation under direction of a Foreman. Primary Duties Install fencing systems including chain link, wood, vinyl, ornamental, privacy, and security fencing Perform layout, measuring, alignment, and fence line setup Set posts using manual and mechanical methods, including augers and drivers Mix and pour concrete footings where required Install gates, hardware, and related components Operate hand tools, power tools, and fencing-specific equipment Load, transport, and stage materials, tools, and equipment Perform tear-out, repair, and replacement of existing fencing systems Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites
Additional Foreman Responsibilities:
Lead and direct crew members on-site Manage daily workflow, production pace, and task assignments Read and execute project plans and layouts independently Troubleshoot installation challenges and adjust methods in the field Ensure job site safety, efficiency, and quality control Minimum Requirements (All Applicants) Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to lift 75+ lbs and perform sustained physical labor Ability to work outdoors in Alaska conditions and varying terrain Strong work ethic, reliability, and consistent attendance Ability to follow direction and work efficiently within a crew Basic familiarity with hand tools and power tools
Experience Requirement:
Installer:
Prior fencing or construction experience is preferred but not required; willingness to learn and work in a production environment is essential
Foreman:
Prior fencing installation experience and demonstrated leadership ability are required Additional Requirements for Foreman Proven experience installing fencing systems independently Demonstrated ability to lead crews and manage job sites Ability to read and interpret plans, layouts, and property boundaries Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability in the field Ability to maintain production pace while ensuring quality Preferred Qualifications Experience installing multiple fencing types (chain link, wood, ornamental, security) Equipment operation experience (skid steer, mini excavator, auger, post driver) Experience working on commercial, industrial, or government-funded projects Experience working in remote or village locations Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting tools and equipment Compensation & Benefits Dimond offers a compensation structure designed to reward experienced, production-driven field professionals across Alaska's construction sector. Competitive base hourly wage , scaled by experience, role level (Installer vs Foreman), and production capability Prevailing wage project opportunities , paid in accordance with federal and state determinations 100% of fringe benefits paid directly to employees , maximizing take-home earnings (unless project-required) Overtime compensation based on workload and seasonal demand
