Maintenance- General
REPORTS TO
Director of OperationsJOB GOAL
To assist in maintaining District facilities and structures by providing excellent maintenance servicesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent Five (5) years' experience in a comparable position or a combination of training/experience Possess and maintain a valid driver's license Meet Hoover City Schools insurable driver requirements Ability to instruct others in the performance of tasks Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions Ability to read, interpret, and/or follow plans, directions, and specifications Ability to prioritize tasks Ability to make estimates of time and material needed for efficient project completion Ability to climb and work from scaffolding, ladders, and heights Ability to engage in prolonged sitting or standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching S trength and agility to lift and carry objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds; ability to exert up to seventy-five (75) pounds of force ]Ability to work in locations involving heights or confined spaces Ability and willingness to work indoors and outdoors year-round in noisy, crowded environments, in various temperatures, and weather conditions Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays if necessary A bility to be punctual and in regular attendance A bility to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457 S uch Alternatives to the above qualifications as state, federal and local law and the Board may requireDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities 2. Performs general and/or routine building maintenance duties as requested, which may include but is not limited to changing light bulbs and filters, basic plumbing and mechanical repairs, and basic carpentry 3. Operates machinery as requested (backhoe, tractor, bucket truck, etc.) 4. Assists co-workers within the department as requested 5. Performs inspections, diagnoses problems, and executes services as needed 6. Estimates materials and resources necessary for completion of jobs 7. Completes work order assignments in a timely manner without close supervision 8. Prioritizes tasks and uses time wisely 9. Uses problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and effective interpersonal skills to effectively and efficiently complete assignments 10. Engages in work-related training to increase knowledge and skills as directed and/or for advancement 11. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters 12. Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility 13. Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel 14. Responds to inquiries, requests, and constructive feedback in a timely and positive manner 15. Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner 16. Properly uses and cares for tools, equipment, and material resources of the school system 17. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures 18. Adheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal and local laws 19.
