Position Overview We are a large metal recycling company seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Technician to maintain and repair a fleet of heavy industrial equipment used in demanding operating environments in our Mobile, Alabama site. This role is ideal for a top-tier mechanic who can independently diagnose complex mechanical and hydraulic problems, perform high-quality repairs, and keep critical equipment running safely and reliably. The successful candidate will have extensive experience working on equipment such as front-end loaders, material handlers, forklifts, and skid steers, with strong troubleshooting abilities in hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. Familiarity with brands such as Liebherr, Fuchs, Sennebogen, Volvo and Bobcat is a plus. Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for managing work orders and supporting spare parts inventory is important for this role. Must be knowledgeable of the 5S system for managing tools and equipment. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. This role will also be supporting the region between Gulfport and Pensacola, when needed. So, travel will be required and company vehicle will be provided. Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy industrial and mobile equipment Maintain and repair equipment including: o Front end loaders o Material handlers o Forklifts o Skid steers o Maintain and service various types of metal recycling equipment Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, and hoses Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections to minimize downtime Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement long-term repair solutions Repair or replace components including engines, bearings, pumps, seals, hydraulic components, and mechanical assemblies Qualifications Required 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or industrial maintenance mechanic Experience working on front end loaders, material handlers, forklifts, skid steers, or similar heavy equipment Strong troubleshooting and repair skills in hydraulic systems Experience diagnosing mechanical failures and performing complex repairs Familiarity with CMMS systems for work orders and maintenance documentation Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs in a fast-paced environment Preferred Diesel engine experience Welding and fabrication skills Experience supporting spare parts or maintenance inventory systems Experience in industrial, recycling, construction, or material handling environments #LI-Onsite
