Full Job Description Shift:
6:00am - 2:30pm Position Goal Performs a variety of duties in and around the buildings of the hospital complex to assist in repair and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment. Focuses primarily on heating, cooling, and ventilation to the hospital complex.
Position Responsibilities:
Operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment, such as compressors, generators, steam boilers, and chillers to provide for utilities such as light, heat and power for refrigeration, direct expansion air conditioning and other services for the hospital. Inspects construction areas to ensure Interim Life Safety measures are in place to protect patients, visitors, and staff from possible injury. Act as interim chairperson of the Environment of Care Committee Presents Environment of Care to new hires in orientation. Assists in conducting required drills (i.e. fir, infant abductions, internal and external disasters). Starts, stops, adjusts and regulates the equipment. Observes steam flow meters, pressure and draft gages and manipulates valves to bring reading within the specified requirements. Chemically tests water to determine hardness and applies chemical softeners as needed. Checks equipment while in operation and makes repairs as needed. Responsible for oiling and greasing moving mechanisms, maintaining proper water condition in boilers and cleaning boilers and other equipment. Observes regulations imposed by local, state, or hospital authorities such as periodically shutting down boilers, removing side panels, and inspecting interiors for scale deposits. Maintains and repairs refrigeration equipment and hot water heaters to insure maximum operating efficiency, adjusting feed valves and pump speeds. Maintains accurate records of all equipment to include installation date and all servicing and parts data for historical purposes. Operates energy management system computer. Changes program as necessary. Controls and monitors HVAC systems through EMS. Evaluates malfunctioning conditions against verifiable or judgmental criteria as show in blueprints and installation instructions. Assist electricians, plumbers and carpenters with various specific repairs such as electrical projects, drains, fixtures, rodding, cleaning, doors, windows, screens, locks, etc. Checks all lighting in and around the hospital buildings and grounds on a regular basis Replaces bulbs/tubes as needed and/or makes necessary repairs to the fixtures, repairs various types of electrical cords as needed, clean fixtures on a regular basis. Plasters walls and ceilings, plunges toilets, and drains when necessary. Maintains various phases of operations such as maintains key control, repairs doors, installs locks, performs filter changes, makes keys, cleans work area and shop area, etc. May be required to act as security during hours when contract security is not on duty.
Experience :
5 years' experience on similar equipment preferred.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Vocational School with shop and refrigeration preferred. .
