Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician serves as a hands-on technical resource responsible for keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently. This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery, identifying root causes of equipment issues, and supporting continuous production operations. The technician plays a key role in minimizing downtime and supporting plant performance. Responsibilities Ensure proper operation of machinery by completing preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment. Diagnose mechanical issues by observing equipment in operation, listening for irregularities, and using precision measuring and testing instruments. Adjust, repair, or replace functional parts using appropriate tools, such as hand tools and levels. Reduce downtime by communicating preventive maintenance techniques to production teams and monitoring compliance. Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies; anticipate needs; place and expedite orders; verify receipts. Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently. Prepare and maintain accurate maintenance reports and documentation. Essential Skills Maintenance technician experience Proficiency in Mechanical, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Electrical repair Knowledge of Industrial maintenance, Blueprint reading, and Electrical maintenance Experience with Schematic reading, Electrical troubleshooting, and Automation Familiarity with 3-phase systems, PLC control, Motors, and Allen-Bradley systems Experience with conveyors 2+ years of related maintenance experience or a technical degree in a related field Additional Skills & Qualifications Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot logically Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers to solve practical problems Proficiency with computers, spreadsheets, and reporting software Ability to read and follow written instructions and complete required documentation Ability to recognize problems quickly and work toward effective solutions Must be able to wear and use required PPE Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment involves handling production equipment and requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The role demands a readiness to work hands-on with machinery and involves using various tools and technologies. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Prattville, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
