Job Description

SUMMARY:
This position Requires demonstrable knowledge, skills, and ability in maintenance, repair and installation of HVAC equipment. Under the supervision of the Maintenance and Housekeeping Director the Maintenance Staff is responsible for building maintenance and to oversee custodial tasks of the building and grounds. The incumbent assists and provides recommendations as to the best method of maintaining, repairing, or replacing mechanical and necessary elements of the building to the Maintenance and Housekeeping Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned, as deemed necessary. 1. Performs duties for the Detention Center, including, but not limited to: a. Detects and corrects hazardous and/or unsightly conditions in the facility or grounds. b. Inspects and maintains assigned equipment and tools for proper operating condition. c. Inspects and resolves all of the plumbing, mechanical, and electrical repairs to be done in house. d. Maintains daily reports of all plumbing, electrical and heat and air service, assisting the Maintenance and Housekeeping Director in monitoring and controlling repairs and costs for preventative maintenance. e. Makes daily inspections of heat and air conditioning units and replacement of filters as needed and also completing any repairs possible in house. Works with vendors for any additional labor, repair and/or replacement of heat and air conditioning units as needed. f. Replaces light ballast and fixtures. g. Operates County vehicles, drills, hammers, saws, air compressors, roto rooters, paint sprayers, welders, cutting torches, metal shears and manlifts. h. Performs minor and routine painting. i. Performs maintenance electrical work such as rewiring, 110 volt/220 volt wiring, installation of fuse boxes and conduit and performs similar maintenance as needed. j. Repairs and maintains all locking devices. k. Provides for general carpentry work involved in the alteration, repair and maintenance of the Detention Center. l. Provides maintenance; carpentry; install doors, door hardware, glazing, smoke detectors, painting, cement, tile settings and roofing. m. Maintains food service equipment. n. Maintains laundry equipment. Maintenance Staff 2 10/16/13 o. Services water pumps, inspecting to ensure proper operations, replacing valves and gaskets, repairing leaking lines. p. Services sanitary sewer grinder. q. Inspects and fills fire extinguishers. r. Inspects fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems to ensure proper operation. s. Maintains security electronics systems. t. Monitors status of all emergency equipment, including the generator. u. Provides emergency support for all emergency situations associated with the Detention Center and/or grounds 24 hours a day/7 days per week. v. Notifies the Maintenance and Housekeeping Director concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment, and/or locking devices. w. Recommends supplies and equipment needed to perform duties to the Maintenance and Housekeeping Director. x. Uses all required safety equipment. y. Maintains the 47 acre site. z. Complies with building codes. aa. Assists in the development and application of related policies and procedures. bb. Performs all duties and functions in a courteous and professional manner. cc. Conducts regular inspections.
Pay:
$22.09 - $23.39 per hour
