Job Description

Job Overview:
Provides excellence in facility maintenance, pool operations, cleanliness, and member service throughout Recreation Department facilities. Responsible for maintaining recreation amenities, pools, parks, sports courts, and common areas to Forest Highlands standards. Assists with daily operations, seasonal projects, facility inspections, and pool maintenance while ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for members and guests.
Essential Functions:
Member Service & Facility Standards Provide prompt, courteous, and professional service to members and guests. Maintain a positive and service-oriented attitude at all times. Answer basic questions regarding recreation facilities and amenities. Ensure all recreation facilities meet Forest Highlands standards for cleanliness and appearance. Assist in maintaining pool amenities including towels, sunscreen stations, water stations, furniture, and deck areas. Pool Operations & Maintenance Pool Opening Responsibilities Open pool facilities each morning according to established procedures. Remove pool covers when applicable. Conduct and record water chemistry tests including: Free Chlorine Total Chlorine pH Alkalinity Calcium Hardness Cyanuric Acid (as required) Adjust chemicals as directed to maintain proper water balance. Inspect pumps, filters, heaters, chemical feeders, and circulation systems for proper operation. Empty skimmer baskets and pump baskets. Inspect pool decks, furniture, umbrellas, gates, and safety equipment. Vacuum pools as needed. Skim surface debris and remove leaves or contaminants. Ensure all pool areas are clean, stocked, and ready for member use prior to opening. Pool Closing Responsibilities Conduct end-of-day water chemistry testing and documentation. Adjust chemicals as needed to maintain overnight water balance. Clean and secure pool decks and surrounding areas. Empty trash receptacles. Store and secure pool furniture and equipment as required. Remove debris from skimmer baskets Complete daily maintenance logs and inspection reports. Secure all gates, equipment rooms, and storage areas. Ongoing Pool Maintenance Monitor water chemistry throughout operating hours. Backwash filters as required and maintain proper filtration performance. Clean tile lines, gutters, drains, and deck surfaces. Brush pool walls, steps, benches, and floors. Monitor water levels and add water when necessary. Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately. Assist outside pool vendors and contractors as directed. Maintain accurate chemical and maintenance records. Facility Maintenance Perform routine inspections of recreation facilities, parks, courts, and outdoor amenities. Complete minor repairs and maintenance projects. Assist with seasonal facility openings and closings. Maintain cleanliness of recreation buildings, locker rooms, restrooms, and storage areas. Set up and break down equipment for programs, events, and activities. Assist with snow removal and ice mitigation during winter months. Operate maintenance equipment including blowers, pressure washers, utility vehicles, and other approved equipment. Identify and report maintenance needs, hazards, and facility concerns. Safety & Risk Management Follow all safety procedures and departmental operating standards. Maintain awareness of occupational hazards and proper chemical handling procedures. Ensure safety equipment remains accessible and operational. Respond appropriately to emergencies and notify supervisors when necessary. Provide first aid and CPR assistance within certification guidelines. Maintain compliance with all health department and club regulations. Team Support & Collaboration Work cooperatively with Recreation, Aquatics, Concierge, and Facilities teams. Attend departmental meetings and training sessions as required. Complete assigned projects and work orders in a timely manner. Assist with special events, programs, and operational needs. Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Valid Driver's License. Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds. Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Preferred Requirements Previous experience in pool maintenance, recreation maintenance, landscaping, or facility operations. Knowledge of pool water chemistry and filtration systems. Experience handling pool chemicals safely. Experience operating maintenance equipment and utility vehicles. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with guests, management, vendors/suppliers, the general public and other employees of the Company.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Position is in a busy golf/country club in a private residential community. Ability to lift up to 50lbs regularly; up to 75lbs occasionally and to lift overhead and push/pull. Must be able to frequently walk, sit, stand, bend, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, stoop kneel, crouch, adjust vision accordingly (close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception) Work in an upright standing position for long periods of time. Exposed to outside weather conditions including low temperatures. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and a quiet work environment. Frequent handling of pool chemicals and maintenance equipment. Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and seasonal schedules as needed.
