Maintenance Controls Technician
MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
Coachella, California Direct Hire May 6, 2026 $59,000.00
Salary Range:
$59,000 - $80,500 Job Summary The Maintenance Controls Technician at client installs, troubleshoots, monitors, corrects, and proposes improvements to equipment electronic control and communication systems that improve equipment uptime and reliability. In addition, the Maintenance Controls Technician performs preventive maintenance along with the Electrician's on client's electrical systems. They need to be proficient and able to train other Maintenance Mechanics on equipment AC power distribution systems, as well as DC logic control hardware, HMI's and programming software, as well as the associated sensors, vision systems, motors, drives, actuators, and industrial communication networks. The Maintenance Controls Technician will work Monday-Thursday 10 hour shifts but must be available as needed to support production needs on all shifts. Our existing control systems are primarily based around Allen Bradley logic controllers, however we do have various other systems including Mitsubishi, Siemens, and Beckhoff based systems that we occasionally need to work with. The equipment these systems control are multi-station assembly systems, presses, trimmers, and fluid handling systems that consist of a variety of electro-mechanical, hydraulic, optical, and pneumatic devices. Our products are components in large and medium caliber ammunition products, and contain various levels of energetic materials, so safety is of paramount importance. Primary Responsibilities Troubleshoot equipment electrical controls systems Understand PLC programming, wiring schematics, HMI programming, and input/output diagrams Provide training to Maintenance Mechanics Place requisitions for needed spare parts and tools Work with engineers to define and document requirements for electrical systems, new control systems and system upgrades. Construct test beds and trainers to test equipment and train Maintenance Mechanics Provide guidance, and assistance to peers and technicians. Stays informed concerning new technologies, materials and equipment, and investigates potential applications. Develop and improve equipment troubleshooting procedures, maintenance procedures, and spare parts lists Collaborate with internal customers on technical issues Able to work extended hours/shifts as required Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above. Understand and live by client's ethics and business conduct policies. Education/Previous Experience Requirements Minimum 2-year degree in relevant Engineering field or 5+ years working as a controls technician Must be authorized to work in the U.S. To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the U.S. Government. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline highly desired. Associates degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, industrial automation, required unless electrical controls experience is greater than 5 years. 1-5 years of electrical controls experience required. Experience troubleshooting electrical controls systems and working on teams to support internal customers Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot AC/DC electrical equipment and infrastructure problems Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70 Ability to understand and troubleshoot Ladder Logic programming using RSLogix 500, and Studio 5000 Experience with Industrial networks Knowledge of vision inspection systems and experience with various servo drive/controllers Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills required. Work Hours & Travel 4x10 work week M-Th and ability to support off-hours as production needs require.
