Job Description

The Operations Technician will assist the facility engineers/building technicians/management in tasks pertaining to the safety and upkeep of the UHTC. This position reports to ASEC Building Operations Manager, and will also receive assignments from Lakers Director and VP, Facilities & Building Operations. Job Requirements Operations Technician should have skills and experience in general facility maintenance.
Including but not limited to:
Basic repair and maintenance work: carpentry, patching, painting, plumbing, electrical and other repairs as directed. Troubleshoot and repair equipment as required. Ability to perform basic furniture, doors, desk, and carpet repairs. Electrical work to include, but not limited to, changing light bulb/LEDs, repair/change electrical components in equipment, replace drivers, low voltage controllers. Familiar with HVAC equipment and components. Ability to read/understand blueprints/manuals. Become knowledgeable with building layout, systems, and equipment. Job Description and Responsibilities
  • Work in the loading dock accepting and documenting deliveries.
  • Work in mail room to process shipments on behalf of Lakers/ASEC staff
  • Maintain the loading dock and storage/equipment rooms to the standards and expectations of a high-level professional facility.
  • Set-up and breakdown of chairs, tables, steel barricade, pipe/drape and carpets.
  • Convert the gymnasium/courts from practice set-up to required event set-up and vice versa.
  • Set-up conference rooms and/or headquarters suite, as necessary from event to event.
  • Assist with outside vendor supervision while onsite as needed.
  • Organization/inventory of attic stock parts, supplies, and equipment.
  • Perform regularly scheduled performative maintenance for the facility.
  • Become knowledgeable with cleaning procedures and help fill in for cleaning crew as needed
  • Operations staff must be on standby during events, with appropriate tools, to anticipate and/or quickly resolve problems that could arise or cause a delay of an event (i.e. replacing nets during basketball events/practice, replacing broken courtside chairs, reset breakers etc).
  • Other duties as assigned by Lakers/ASEC Management.
  • Should be detail oriented, flexible, work with professionalism at all times, through a variety of circumstances, while demonstrating good judgement.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Must have computer skills to communicate via email, as well as update AMMS maintenance program
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Must perform job functions under limited supervision, be self-motivated and able to absorb constructive criticism.
  • Must work well and communicate well with other staff members and general public.
  • Must comply with all rules/procedures/ policies in ASEC employee handbook.
Assist housekeeping and security as needed. Must customarily and regularly exercise discretion and independent judgement
Working Environment/Physical Activities:
  • Must be able to do repeated lifting (up to 50 pounds unassisted), bending, standing, able to extend arms, climb stairs and walk for up to 2 hours continuously.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand & arm movements - pushing, pulling, squeezing and simple grasping constantly.
  • Must be able to twist, bend, squat, kneel or crawl occasionally.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance, utilizing both provided resources (uniforms provided) and personal resources that conform to the facility dress code.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, in a time sensitive-fast paced environment and take constructive criticism.
  • Available to work a varied schedule to include mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Shift and 'on-call' work may be required, particularly when equipment is in continual 24-hour operation and/or needs of the facility.
Compensation- Salary:
$26./hr, Full-time Non-Exempt Benefits- Eligible for benefits after 90-day probation, with partial contribution from employer; Monthly cell-phone re-imbursement of $50
