Job details Summary Spherion $29.00 - $33.50 per hour Temp to Perm 6:00 AM - 12:30 PM Industry installation, maintenance & repair (Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations) Reference number S_176172 Job details Under general supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic II keeps plant machinery and facility equipment in optimal working order. This role is responsible for diagnosing, analyzing, and resolving mechanical and structural issues on standard and specialized production equipment.
Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting ... Perform preventative maintenance, routine inspections, adjustments, and repairs on all mechanical plant equipment. Maintain and troubleshoot pumps, cranes, hoists, hydraulic systems, vacuum pumps, and facility vehicles. Observe and listen to machinery in operation to accurately locate and diagnose the root causes of malfunctions. Dismantle devices to remove defective components; inspect parts for wear, texture defects, and dimensional changes. Fabrication, Installation & Repair Set up and operate conventional machine shop tools (lathes, drill presses, grinders, and power tools) to fabricate or repair parts. Perform arc, gas, and TIG/MIG welding as needed for repairs and modifications. Install new machinery, layout jobs, and compile accurate bills of materials for projects. Perform basic electrical repairs and run conduit. Handle general facility upkeep, including lubrication, cleaning, and painting. Operations & Safety Safely operate forklifts, aerial boom lifts, scissor lifts, and small trucks. Test repaired devices to ensure they meet performance and safety standards. Assist with the onboarding and training of new employees and apprentices.

Technical Expertise:
Advanced knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, facility maintenance, and complex production machinery.
Blueprint Literacy:
Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical specifications, and hydraulic/electrical schematics.
Problem Solving:
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve practical problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
Communication:
Ability to read, understand, and verbally communicate safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Autonomy:
Proven ability to work independently, follow detailed written instructions, and apply common-sense understanding to daily tasks.
Math & Tech Skills:
Proficient in basic shop mathematics (fractions, decimals, units of measure). Basic computer literacy for emailing and sourcing parts/repair methods online.
Tools:
Must possess and provide a standard set of hand tools required for the trade.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical school, trade program, or vocational training is highly preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum of 5???10 years of successful, related experience in the machine tool field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
