This position requires a high level of technical proficiency and accuracy, and a willingness to learn and grow. We are looking for a self-motivated problem-solver, who is proactive in their follow up-skills, an adherence to deadlines, and excellent computer skills. This is a full-time position, serving a prestigious self-managed private residential community near Laguna Beach. Compensation is hourly and dependent on experience. Excellent benefits are provided. Duties Maintain, clean and repair sewage collection lines, manholes, lift stations and other sewage facilities and equipment. Perform assigned routine maintenance of equipment in accordance with District standards. Operate hydro-cleaner, television inspection vehicle, utility trucks or other similar vehicles. Operate a variety of small equipment, including generators, pumps, ventilating fans, and hand tools. Operate ISCO Monitoring Equipment. Responsible for traffic control, proper safety procedures and reading and interpreting sewer atlas. Maintain daily records of completed work. Respond to complaints concerning sewer odors, sewer blockages, noisy manhole covers and make corrections or recommendations. In the absence of the Senior Collections Maintenance Technician, may direct and guide assignments of other collections personnel. Participate in a scheduled standby program. Comply with District & Association safety regulations and Policies and Procedures. Maintain and operate a department personal computer for sewer program facility management and TV inspection recordation. Support the Maintenance team with general maintenance duties, such as gate repairs, event set-up/take-down, and facility maintenance, when needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent waste water related courses. One year of experience in water, wastewater or related industry to include operation and maintenance experience with collection system equipment such as vacuum truck, hydro-cleaner and TV inspection equipment. Ability to obtain a valid Grade I Collection System Maintenance Certificate issued by the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) within first twelve (12) months of employment. Must possess a valid California's driver's license. Ability to work well independently and as a team member in a small maintenance yard environment. Responsible and dependable. Computer proficiency in the complete Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Experience with sewer system maintenance software, including GIS. Other general maintenance related experience is a plus.
Work Schedule and Physical Demands:
Ability to physically perform the duties associated with this position. Ability to operate job related equipment; carry, push, reach for and lift equipment, parts or material weighing up to 50 pounds; walk, sit, and/or stand for extended periods of time; walk on uneven terrain and work in an outdoor environment with possible exposure to harsh weather conditions, heavy equipment, dust, noise and potentially hazardous substances; ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist and neck, crawl and climb during maintenance and repair work; work in confined spaces, trenches and elevated areas; occasionally turn valves of different sizes at different pressures. Ability to hear and focus vision for close work and adjust distances as well as hand to eye coordination required. The maintenance department hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday, but on-call, standby hours will be necessary two weeks a month.
Pay:
$29.00 - $35.00 per hour
