Full Time Position Summary :

Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, alignment, testing and repair of the HFC plant in accordance with Giggle Fiber, FCC rules, regulations and procedures. Supporting all services up to and including analog, digital, fiber, DOCSIS and other communications methods and mediums.

Responsibilities :

Performs system sweeping, alignment, testing, analysis, troubleshooting, repair and certification, including RF two way. Produces and maintains documentation and records for all activities and testing as required. Participates in regularly scheduled and emergency on-call duty beyond normal working hours as required by supervisor. Position may require non-standard working hours on a regular basis in order to perform position duties at hours that are least disruptive to customers. Maintains thorough and current proficiency of FCC and Giggle Fiber performance specifications, and can, without supervision, initiate and complete comprehensive testing including (but not limited to) all FCC or Giggle Fiber required or recommended tests and measurements. Performs general construction duties, splicing (coaxial, fiber), activation and emergency restoration of communications facilities. Properly protects and defends Giggle Fiber equipment, property, and materials against loss, theft or damage. Maintains all equipment assigned in proper working order including regular calibration, repair, adjustment, and alignment. Performs maintenance by climbing on ladders, telephone poles, and other structures; lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, digging, crawling, stooping and standing. Works outside throughout the year Works in various weather conditions, which may be extreme hot or cold conditions. May drive for long periods of time and work in dark/confined spaces. Performs work at hub sites and diagnose hub problems.

Qualifications :

Knowledge of Hybrid Fiber-Coax network. Knowledge of current developments in the ISP industry regarding proper field maintenance and operation. Knowledge of National Electrical Code, OSHA and related state and local codes. Ability to troubleshoot all RF and optical related problems. Knowledge of DOCSIS and RF signals. Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications and organizational skills. Technically proficient in all aspects of a broadband network.

Physical Demands :

The physical demands for this position are typical to an office and field environment and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Ability to climb ladders, towers and other structures as needed. Lift and carry loads of at least 70 lbs. Use bucket trucks. Manipulate connectors, fasteners and wire and use hand tools.

Education Required:

High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) required. Preferred 2year Associate degree and/or training in electronics or related discipline.
