Full-Time | Contract to Hire Position Summary We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support plant operations by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installation of industrial mechanical systems and production equipment in a heavy manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining safe and efficient operation of plant machinery, hydraulic systems, pneumatic equipment, conveyors, and facility equipment used in the production process. The ideal candidate will have industrial maintenance experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and hands-on knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and repair work on industrial production equipment Troubleshoot and repair: Hydraulic systems Pneumatic systems Gearboxes Pumps Conveyors Fans and blowers Hydraulic cylinders Air cylinders Valves and motors Inspect machinery and production equipment for wear, alignment, lubrication, and mechanical issues Minimize downtime through efficient troubleshooting and repair procedures Assemble and align gears, shafts, bearings, and couplings Install, dismantle, clean, lubricate, and maintain industrial machinery and mechanical systems Utilize precision measuring equipment including: Calipers Micrometers Tape measures Read and interpret: Blueprints Mechanical drawings Work instructions Maintenance documentation Complete work orders, maintenance logs, and preventative maintenance records Operate safely around forklifts, cranes, hoists, and industrial equipment Support facility maintenance and equipment reliability initiatives Maintain clean and organized work areas Follow all OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and plant safety requirements Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required 2 5 years of industrial maintenance or mechanical repair experience preferred Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Experience working with: Hydraulic equipment Pneumatic systems Industrial machinery Preventative maintenance programs Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation Basic electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repair knowledge Ability to use precision measuring tools and maintenance equipment Basic computer and documentation skills Valid driver's license required Ability to pass: Mechanical aptitude assessment Practical hands-on evaluation Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed Preferred Qualifications Journeyman or trade school training Experience with maintenance management software and work order systems Forklift certification or forklift experience Welding or structural repair experience Overhead crane experience Confined space and hot work experience LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) knowledge Heavy industrial manufacturing experience Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout shift Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly Ability to work in physically demanding industrial environments Comfortable working around: Moving machinery Heat Noise Dust Industrial equipment Work Environment This position works in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to: Moving mechanical equipment Hydraulic and pneumatic systems Dust, fumes, and airborne particles Heat, vibration, and loud noise Indoor and outdoor working conditions Proper PPE and strict adherence to all plant safety procedures are required.
