Serves as lead-worker over a team of employees. Lead-worker responsibilities may include instructing, assigning, and planning the work of others; monitoring standards; coordinating activities; allocating personnel; providing input on employee performance evaluations and regarding recommendations for transfers, promotions, and salary increases. Inspects and oversees all maintenance, installation, and repair work performed by contractors or other Town employees. Performs regular maintenance of parks grounds. Conducts daily park inspections, removing trash, cleaning restrooms, blowing off sidewalks, inspecting playgrounds, documenting maintenance issues, inspecting park amenities, power washing, graffiti removal and sign maintenance. Clears snow from school routes, Town-owned properties, buildings, sidewalks and trails. Responds to maintenance requests for special events. Sets up and tears down for Town sponsored events, pavilion reservations, athletic tournaments and department functions. Inspects property, structures, and facilities for maintenance needs and safety hazards. Responds to public concerns, complaints or questions regarding all aspects of area of expertise. Recommends and coordinates renovations and improvements. Operates simple to complex equipment in the maintenance and upkeep of area of expertise. This may include tractors, mowers, backhoes, trucks, front-end loaders. Utilizes various manual, gas, and hand-held electrical tools and equipment in installation and upkeep of area of expertise. This may include saws, welders, drills, hammers, shovels, snow blowers. Performs painting, cleaning, maintenance and repair on municipal property, structures, and facilities. Cleans/clears debris and refuse from Town property. Performs/coordinates regular maintenance and repair on equipment used in area of expertise. Performs grounds maintenance, e.g., mowing, weed eating, edging, blowing, pruning, planting, trimming, sodding. Operates tractor and sprayer for fertilization/weed control. Performs maintenance of athletic fields including sodding, installing mounds and bases, marking base paths, and correcting public safety hazards such as ground holes, loose turf and debris. Orders supplies and maintains inventory for all maintenance and repair work. Manages account funds and maintains maintenance records. Provides periodic and special reports. Shares on-call duty on a rotating schedule. Responds to and performs after-hours calls for service and emergency repair. Performs other duties as assigned or required.WHEN ASSIGNED TO EQUIPMENT MECHANIC
Performs preventive maintenance on equipment per manufacturer's recommendations. Performs blade maintenance. Sharpens blades using rotary grinder. Conducts diagnosis and repair of all vehicle and equipment systems including: engines, gas, diesel and alternative fueled vehicles. Drives Town vehicles for site visits to repair breakdowns. Repairs and maintains riding lawn movers, push mowers, edgers, blowers and trimmers. Maintains shop organization and cleanliness. Orders supplies. Schedules work and provides customer service to Parks staff. Provides training to seasonal staff regarding proper operations and safety of equipment. Provides care and maintenance of shop equipment and tools. Provides necessary information for completion of work orders and a complete set of records for equipment maintenance, supplies used, description of repairs and labor hours needed to perform repairs. Tracks inventory, requisitions parts and supplies. Picks up and orders necessary supplies. Reviews drawings for the repair of capital improvements.WHEN ASSIGNED TO IRRIGATION
Maintains irrigation systems for efficiency of operations. Inspects, repairs and installs all necessary components of commercial irrigation systems including mainlines, lateral lines, manual and electric valves, rotor and spray heads, SDI, drip emitters, controllers, sensors, electrical and telephone service. Installs and repairs cross connection devices including vacuum breakers and reduced pressure type devices. Updates older irrigation systems with more efficient products by designing, researching, purchasing and installing new irrigation products. Provides technical support for contractors, designers and installers during construction of new parks. Performs construction inspections and documents warranty issues. Processes irrigation locate requests by locating Town-maintained irrigation infrastructure prior to construction in right-of-way's, parks and buildings. •This position is part of the Town's snow removal program. Will have scheduled on-call responsibilities through the winter months to remove snow using a 4-wheel drive pickup and/or heavy equipment. Snow removal shifts are typically 12 hours.•Minimum Qualifications:
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalentExperience:
At least three (3) years previous experience in parks/grounds maintenance, equipment maintenance or closely related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Licenses and/orCertifications Required:
a valid Colorado Driver's License A valid Colorado Class B Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Maxicom hardware installation certification required, or ability to attain within 12 months of hire. ABPA Cross Connection certification required, or ability to attain within 12 months of hire.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the various types of semi-skilled manual work performed in maintenance and repair of area of expertise. Knowledge of the various types of manual, gas or electrically powered tools, equipment and machinery employed in maintenance, installation and/or repair of area of expertise. Knowledge of potential hazards of the materials and equipment used in performing tasks. Skill in operating machinery and equipment and utilizing tools used within area of expertise. Ability to understand verbal information and instruction and explain information in situations which may adversarial. Ability to read and understand written material. Ability to translate verbal communication into effective written material, e.g., reports and other documents. Ability to use basic mathematical skills in making basic calculations. Knowledge of chemicals, fertilizers and other applicable media for grounds maintenance. Ability to physically access all work sites to perform duties, potentially in any weather and environmental conditions. Ability to perform on-call duty on regularly scheduled shift.Physical Demands:
Moderate to heavy physical work to including ability to lift up to 75lbs, carry up to 75 lbs, push and/or pull up to 50 lbs Frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools and electrical equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizensWork Environment:
