training and growth opportunities Job Summary The Maintenance Mechanic supports safe, efficient, and high-quality production by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining food manufacturing and packaging equipment. This role diagnoses mechanical and electrical issues, completes preventive maintenance, and partners with Production and Facilities to minimize downtime while maintaining food safety and regulatory compliance (USDA/FDA, HACCP, SSOP).Shift:

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production and packaging equipment to minimize downtime Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), inspections, lubrication, and adjustments; document work completed in maintenance logs/systems Repair and replace components (e.g., bearings, gearboxes, chains, sensors, motors) using appropriate tools and safe work practices Set up, test, and verify equipment performance to meet production, quality, and safety requirements Read and interpret schematics, manuals, and assembly drawings to diagnose electromechanical problems Identify parts needed for repairs; complete requisitions, follow up on deliveries, and install replacement parts Support installation and start-up of new equipment and automation improvements Communicate equipment status, risks, and repair plans with Production, Facilities, and leadership Maintain a clean and organized work area; promptly report hazards, near misses, and safety concerns Follow OSHA and applicableUSDA/FDA
food-plant regulations, including HACCP and SSOP programs Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality to support production schedules Qualifications Required Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic welding/fabrication Ability to read equipment manuals, work instructions, and schematics/blueprints Comfort using test equipment (e.g., DVM/multimeter, clamp meter) and hand/power tools safely Basic computer skills for entering PM/repair data and connecting to equipment for diagnostics Clear written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and as part of a team Commitment to safety, food safety, and regulatory compliance Preferred Food manufacturing experience Forklift and/or scissors lift certification (or ability to obtain) OSHA 10-hour certification (or ability to obtain) Electrical E2 license; Welding and Fabrication highly desiredPhysical Requirements and Work Environment:
Environmental Adaptability:
Must be able to perform maintenance tasks in a food manufacturing environment (approx. 50°F), including frequent entry into coolers (35°F) and occasional repairs in freezers (0°F to 5°F).Mechanical Maneuverability:
Ability to maintain stationary positions for extended periods while repairing equipment, as well as the mobility to move throughout the facility, squat, or kneel to access machinery components.Physical Strength:
Must be able to lift, move, and position mechanical parts or tools weighing up to 50 pounds and exert up to 40 pounds of force to push/pull equipment or tool carts.Technical Dexterity:
Sufficient manual dexterity to operate hand/power tools, manipulate small fasteners, and utilize precision testing equipment (e.g., multimeters).Positional Work:
Ability to work safely at various heights using ladders or aerial lift equipment (e.g., scissors lifts) to maintain overhead conveyors or facility fixtures.Sensory Diagnostics:
•Visual:
Near and distance vision required to interpret technical schematics and identify mechanical wear or electrical faults.Auditory/Tactile:
Ability to hear and feel machinery vibrations or sounds to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions.Regulatory Compliance:
Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and food safety apparel (hairnets, beard nets, etc.) as mandated by USDA/FDA and company safety policies.
