Job Description

Overview Calvary Street Management is seeking an experienced, proactive, and dedicated Maintenance Technician for their Assisted Living facility located in Washington, DC. Managed by Calvary Street Management, Livingston Place on Southern Avenue is a prominent Assisted Living Community, recognized as a LIHTC property; Livingston Place provides affordable residential and assistant living to D.C. seniors 65+ years old. The Assisted Living Facility's Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for our residents and team members. This position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the community, including building systems, preventative maintenance programs, energy management initiatives, and facility operations. This position is a very hands-on role, prior Maintenance experience, in a similar environment, is required. Working closely with leadership, the Maintenance Technician helps maintain high-quality standards, supports operational goals, and ensures the property remains in excellent condition. The ideal candidate takes pride in protecting and enhancing the value of the community while providing exceptional service in a resident-focused environment. Responsibilities Maintenance and Operations Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supervise vendors and subcontractors as needed. Maintain preventive maintenance and overall schedules for all. Responsible for instituting and managing maintenance and operational best practices for all buildings, grounds and operating systems. Understand OSHA, other regulatory guidelines, and industry best practices to insure compliance with work and testing being performed by maintenance personnel, vendors and subcontractors. Operate and manage all aspects of the Building Management Systems (HVAC, lighting control, security and life safety). Manage usage and procurement to insure utility optimization. Project Systems Team member must operate, test, maintain and restore to working order any component of the systems used within the property, including but not limited to: Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning (HVAC)
Plumbing Electrical and Lighting Systems Structural Life Safety Systems Qualifications Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; plus technical or trade school certification preferred. Minimum of 2 years' Maintenance engineering experience with knowledge of commercial, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Certifications in any of the listed trades are a plus, but not required. Proven maintenance skills in carpentry, painting, locksmithing, etc. Must have and maintain an active and valid driver's license. Proven knowledge of technical terms used in HVAC, plumbing and/or electrical Strong knowledge of building trade tools and equipment Good verbal communication skills and written communication skills in English and customer service skills Must be a good team player with multi-tasking skills Working knowledge in maintenance ticketing systems, such as TELs, is preferred but not required. General knowledge in facility maintenance compliance is highly preferred. Excellent attendance record and willingness to work a flexible schedule which may include after hours and/or on-call duties Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team. For Washington DC this ranges from $41,600 - $52,000 plus benefits and retirement program.
