Hourly Requirements:

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training in general maintenance, mechanics, electrical maintenance, plumbing, water utility operations, or specialized work in area of assignment; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving grounds maintenance, road maintenance, water utilities maintenance, general building maintenance, equipment operation, and/or specialized work in area of assignment, such as electrical maintenance, irrigation system maintenance, underground utility location, sewer cleaning camera/truck operation, or wastewater collections; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Tasks involving water utility operations/maintenance will require possession and maintenance of valid Class 3 Water Distribution license and backflow testing and repair certification within 18 months of hire. May also require other certifications as related to position or for specialized areas of assignment. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License and maintain eligibility requirements and endorsement(s) to drive a Company vehicle. The Utility Maintenance Technician will be performing various tasks involving water and wastewater utilities maintenance projects; locating service connections and breaks; installing, repairing, or replacing valves; disassembling, maintaining and painting pumps, motors, pipes, and hydrants; performing preventive maintenance on equipment; assembling and repairing backflow devices; assembling bacteriological sample stations; conducting cross-connection control inspections of customers; repairing or replacing sustaining, regulation, and pressure reducing valves. This position is in our Ave Maria, FL location in the Ave Maria Utility Plant. The 1.67 million-gallon-per-day plant uses membrane softening to treat water drawn from three wells.
