POSITION TITLE
Facilities Maintenance Technician
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO
Facilities Supervisor
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To enhance the guest experience and enforce the zoo's vision of inspiring discovery of the earth's wildlife through innovative experiences in a caring environment. Be aware of the safety of our guests and our staff. Preventative, routine and emergency repairs on all facility equipment including pumps, AC, water lines, electrical lines, etc. Carpentry work to include framing, replacement of fencing and other light carpentry duties.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
H.V.A.C.
  • Minor troubleshooting for air conditioning systems throughout the park. Clean coils, change filters as needed. Plumbing
  • Repair and install PVC piping, unclog restricted drain lines, repair & replace flush valves, basic pump repairs and filtration system upkeep. Electrical
  • Repair
  • replace light fixtures, fans, pumps, etc. Troubleshoot circuits. Carpentry
  • Framing and repair. Light carpentry as needed. Water Systems & Treatment
  • Responsible for back washing, servicing and monitoring all water and life support systems. Equipment
  • Be able to safely use the following pieces of equipment: pressure washer, basic hand tolls, table saw, drain cleaning equipment, grinders, torches, welding equipment, backhoe, skid steer loader, man lifts, volt/amp meter and other as pertains to this position.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High School Graduate or equivalent. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Technicians must supply their own hand tools. Prior experience in facility maintenance is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to remain on feet for long periods of time. Must be able to transverse zoo grounds and construction site on foot. Must be able to stoop, bend, lift, kneel, crawl, climb, jump, and carry objects for short distances. Must be able to lift overhead. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without difficulty. Must be able to climb ladder and stairs. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, rain and wind. Must be able to dig trenches. Must be able to withstand heat or coldness in buildings, attics or cooler units. Must be able to operate motorized cart. Must be able to sit, squat, and kneel for periods of time.
