The Senior CNC Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of CNC machines, production equipment, and facility systems. This role serves as a technical leader within the maintenance team, ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining overall facility operations.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machines including mills, lathes, and multi-axis equipment Maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems associated with CNC equipment Troubleshoot and repair CNC control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, Mazak) Lead and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs for both production equipment and facility systems Support installation, commissioning, and relocation of CNC machines and related equipmentCNC & Production Equipment Support:
Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and CNC control documentation Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers, CNC Programmers, and Production teams to resolve equipment issues and improve performance Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actionsFacilities Maintenance:
Maintain and repair facility systems including HVAC, air compressors, electrical distribution, lighting, plumbing, and building infrastructure Perform routine inspections of facility equipment and coordinate repairs to ensure safe and efficient operations Support upkeep of building systems, including preventative maintenance and vendor coordination when required Respond to facility-related maintenance requests and emergencies in a timely mannerLeadership & General:
Mentor and train junior maintenance technicians on CNC systems and general maintenance practices Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation in CMMS or other systems Ensure compliance with all safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirementsEducation/Experience:
Required:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field preferred Minimum of 7-10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, including: significant hands-on experience with CNC machinery, experience supporting facility systems and infrastructure Strong knowledge of CNC machine operations, controls, and systems Experience troubleshooting electrical systems (480V, 3-phase), PLCs, and servo systems Experience resolving and troubleshooting machine alignment (spindles, table, etc.) Working knowledge of facility systems including HVAC, compressed air, and electrical distribution Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics Hands-on experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and/or weekends as neededSkills and Abilities:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to work independently and lead maintenance initiatives Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills across both equipment and facility systems Effective communication and collaboration across departments Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple issues simultaneously High attention to detail and commitment to qualityPhysical Requirements:
