Job Description As a Highway Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the project's day-to-day maintenance, servicing, repairs of roads, and other infrastructure assets. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining contracted assets (such as roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) per standards in the contract and as directed by the supervisor.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Demonstrate a positive safety culture by following all safety policies, procedures, and practices. Set up and remove traffic control devices (cones, signs, message/arrow boards, etc.) to ensure safe Maintenance of Traffic (MOT). Perform highway maintenance and repairs including pothole patching, striping, reflector/delineator installation, and concrete/asphalt work. Maintain roadway cleanliness through litter and debris removal using tools such as litter claws or similar devices. Repair and maintain drainage systems, slopes, berms, and culverts using hand and power tools. Control vegetation growth using mowing equipment, trimmers, sprayers, and other methods. Maintain and repair signs, guardrails, fences, and lighting using appropriate tools and materials. Work comfortably at heights using bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders, or aerial platforms. Participate in emergency response rotations, including availability for overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays. Adhere to all company policies and procedures at all times. Transport crew and equipment using pickup trucks and specialized vehicles/trailers. Conduct preventative maintenance and minor repairs on trucks and equipment. Foster positive relationships with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers. Promote a customer service-focused environment among team members. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
Experience with skid steer, wheel loader, mini excavator, and tractor At least 18 years of age Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions Must have reliable transportation Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (minimum 5 years) Open availability, including overtime and emergency on-call rotation Willing to travel as needed Able to work independently and as part of a team Committed to maintaining a safe work environment Must follow company drug and alcohol policy
