Job Description

Company Overview The Sun 'N Lake District is a special improvement district (SID) established to finance essential services within the development, including infrastructure construction, maintenance, and landscaping. This independent government entity is dedicated to maintaining a vibrant and well-kept community environment.
Summary:
Under the direction of the Roads & Drainage Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining and beautifying outdoor spaces, such as District maintained common areas, recreation complexes, and other District properties. The primary goal is to ensure that these areas are safe, attractive, and well-cared for. (

  • : • Completes lawn maintenance duties using a variety of handheld or riding equipment - including, but not limited to riding mowers, edgers, chainsaws, grass trimmers, and chemical sprayers.
  • Plants, cultivates and trims trees, shrubs, and flower beds and controls weeds and pests through proper pesticide and herbicide application.
Collects and disposes of leaves litter and debris and ensures sidewalks and parking areas are free of hazards. Oversees the continuous maintenance of the district dog parks - including but not limited to lawn maintenance, pesticide application, emptying of waste disposal bins (around the entire District) and reporting maintenance concerns or suggested repairs. Schedules change-outs for plants, flowers and shrubs within flower beds and other landscaped areas throughout the district. Maintains outdoor furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Ensures custodial needs within District facilities are met and work and public spaces are attractive, clean, and free from debris and other hazards. Performs other related work as required.
Qualification Requirements:
Strong knowledge of landscaping or grounds maintenance preferred. Operating hand tools and power tools Basic knowledge of maintenance equipment Attention to detail and strong work ethic Correct application and use of the English language, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

While performing the duties of this job the employee will regularly be required to display verbal skills to effectively interface with other staff members and the public; sit or stand for extended periods of time; walk, climb, and navigate uneven terrain; lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.; kneel, stoop, bend, squat, use hands/fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, controls, and drive a vehicle in all conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License, have a satisfactory driving record, and insurable by the district to operate District vehicles.
Experience:
Progressively responsible experience in general maintenance or similar field
Work Hours:
Typical working hours for this position are Monday-Friday, from 7:00am to 3:30pm. This schedule is subject to change as required to meet the needs of the district. Must be willing to work overtime and/or alternate schedules as required. This position is essential for disasters and may be required to report to work immediately following a natural disaster (such as a hurricane).
Pay:
$15.00 per hour
