Mechanical Strong hands-on mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills Responsibilities & DutiesPreventive Maintenance Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all bakery equipment, including ovens, mixers, dividers, conveyors, slicers, packaging machines, refrigeration systems, and boilers. Lubricate, clean, and adjust machinery according to manufacturer specifications and established PM schedules. Inspect equipment for wear and potential failures, addressing issues proactively to prevent downtime. Maintain accurate records of all preventive maintenance activities. Troubleshooting & Repair Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic failures on production and facility equipment. Repair or replace motors, pumps, valves, bearings, sensors, and basic control devices. Use electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals to identify and resolve equipment issues. Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimize production downtime. Accurately record labor hours and downtime within the maintenance work order system. Production Support Cover assigned production areas for breakdowns, changeovers, machine adjustments, and repairs during the shift. Coordinate with machine operators to complete changeovers and setups efficiently while maintaining product quality. Equipment Installation & Modification Assist with installation, startup, and commissioning of new bakery equipment. Perform minor equipment modifications and upgrades to improve performance, reliability, and safety. Ensure all work complies with company standards, safety regulations, and food safety requirements. Safety & Compliance Follow all plant safety procedures, including proper lockout/tagout practices. Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment. Report safety hazards, near misses, and equipment deficiencies immediately. Support and comply with all food safety, GMP, and sanitation standards . Inventory & Work Order Management Maintain adequate inventory of critical spare parts and maintenance supplies. Request and verify parts as needed. Track parts usage and labor in MaintainX or similar CMMS . Open, update, and close work orders with accurate cause, corrective action, and preventive documentation. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with production, sanitation, and quality teams to ensure equipment reliability. Communicate equipment status, priorities, and outstanding issues during shift handoffs. Provide basic technical support and on-the-job training to operators as needed. Qualifications & Skills Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical , or related field preferred. Proven experience as an Industrial Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or food production environment. Strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills. Working knowledge of PLCs and industrial automation (basic I/O and fault-finding). Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. Proficient with hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment. Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and root-cause analysis skills. Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment. Ability to lift heavy objects and work in hot, cold, and humid conditions. Knowledge of food safety, GMPs, and sanitation standards in a bakery or food plant preferred.
