Job Description

Job description: Lake County Schools is currently seeking to hire one Building Maintenance Technician. The south maintenance lot is located less than an hour from Orlando and serves several schools and departments. Our employees are our heart. Become a valuable member of our maintenance team and receive five paid holidays, plus winter break and spring break off. Requirements
  • Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair, making notes and recommendations using a pre-established check sheet.
  • Performs electrical maintenance, under the supervision of an electrician, to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
  • Performs plumbing maintenance, under the supervision of a plumber.
  • Performs painting, carpentry and masonry work, waterproofing and caulking.
  • Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
  • Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools.
  • Uses pressure washer, as needed.
  • Documents time and materials utilized to complete work orders within the district's work order system.
  • Assists higher level technicians/tradesmen with special projects, as assigned.
  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, parking lots, and other work areas, as assigned and/or due to emergencies or other unforeseen incidents.
  • Provides 24-hour support, as required.
  • Utilizes current technology, as appropriate, to perform job functions and participates in training programs offered to increase technology skill level, job proficiency, current trends, and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Performs related duties as directed. Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of two (2) years related experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
