Job Description

Emerald Transportation Solutions is looking for an experienced Facilities Technician to support the overall safety, functionality, and operational readiness of the facility and grounds. supporting day-to-day Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) needs, as well as operational projects. The role requires high skills in facility maintenance, safety compliance, and equipment operation, with a commitment to keeping the workplace safe, clean, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrated ability to manage facilities projects from inception to completion, including performing operational tasks, assigning work to team members or vendors, controlling material usage, and monitoring project expenditures to ensure cost efficiency. Perform daily inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on facility equipment, including air hoses, hose reels, vacuum pumps, band saws, lifts, and cooler fans, etc. Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely and in compliance with OSHA standards. Support EHS initiatives by conducting safety inspections on emergency lights, lifelines, pull-down cords, ladders, safety harnesses, eyewash stations, and secondary chemical containers, etc. Oversee waste disposal processes, including scheduling metal dumpster pickups and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Ensure facility cleanliness, including trash removal, cleaning around fire extinguishers, electrical panels, and maintaining designated work areas indoors and outdoors. Assist with environmental reporting and participate in safety audits as needed. Identify and promptly report facility or equipment issues requiring repair or replacement. Support special operational projects, including facility upgrades, process improvements, and seasonal maintenance tasks. Collaborate with leadership to enhance safety programs and maintain compliance with all DOT, OSHA, and environmental standards.
Qualifications:
Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with strong computer proficiency and the ability to learn and navigate various online portals and business applications. Experience with ERP systems is an added advantage. Proven experience in facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a similar role. Maintain valid Forklift Certification and DOT Medical Card (required). Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of EHS standards, industrial safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Work Environment:
Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Exposure to industrial chemicals, machinery noise, and operational hazards (with required PPE provided). Dual site (Griffin & Fayetteville) Reports to:
