Facilities and Grounds Manager Job Summary The Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Technician II is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of company buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position performs routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and general repairs to ensure facilities remain safe, operational, and welcoming for employees, guests, and visitors. This position is critical to creating a positive first impression and overall welcoming experience for visitors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities •The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Perform routine maintenance and repairs to buildings, facilities, and property infrastructure. Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance or safety issues. Complete general repairs including carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, and basic electrical work. Repair and maintain doors, locks, windows, flooring, fixtures, and lighting. Address plumbing issues such as leaks, clogged drains, and running toilets. Perform interior and exterior painting, patching, and finishing work as needed. Maintain grounds and exterior areas including walkways, signage, fencing, and outdoor structures. Assist with landscaping tasks such as debris removal, trimming, and seasonal upkeep. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and facility systems when applicable. Operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility needs. Maintain maintenance logs, supply inventories, and report repair needs to management. Assist with set-up and breakdown for events, operational needs, or seasonal activities. Coordinate with outside vendors or contractors for specialized repairs or services. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Perform general maintenance duties as directed by supervisor, including, but not limited to: repairs to structures and equipment, cleaning and maintenance of same, painting, construction, digging, organization of storage areas, maintain light/sound/cameras/HVAC, tree/limb removal, disposal of trash/recycling, monitoring integrity of animal, visitor and perimeter barriers. Provide support for special events and rentals as scheduled or requested. This may include affixing lights, moving equipment, staging, parking, and other duties as requested. Monitor state of grounds, buildings, structures and fences; relay any repairs needed to supervisor. Ensure repairs/modifications are completed. Utilize Park vehicles and equipment to complete assigned duties, including mowers, blowers, tractors, bush hogs, brush cutters, track loader with various attachments, ATVs, UTVs, various trailers, hand tools, and power tools. Ensure all equipment and vehicles are in good condition and functioning properly. Report any issues to supervisor and ensure repairs/modifications are completed in a timely manner. Aid in maintaining storage areas, workspaces, shop and grounds in a neat and orderly fashion. Develop new strategies to improve storage, transfer, and care of equipment. Aid in clearing grounds of environmental debris, ice and/or snow; prepare Park for and monitor impact of inclement weather. Other duties as assigned.
Maintenance Technicians will:
Assure work, equipment, work areas, and self, represent the Park in a safe, clean, professional, and orderly manner at all times. Assist with projects as requested or assigned.
Ensure familiarity with duties/tasks checklists:
Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Annual. Maintain proper reporting and records when required, in-line with Park protocols. Learn correct use and maintenance of radio equipment. Assist and participate in all departmental activities, including meetings. Aid in monitoring the well-being of the animals throughout the day; report any concerns to supervisor and Animal Care staff. Adhere to Park, OSHA and other regulatory safety standards, procedures, and safety protocols. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and order throughout the campus. Oversee waste disposal and recycling activities, insuring compliance with environmental regulations. Prepared to respond to emergency situations, including severe weather events, equipment failures, or other emergencies following Park Emergency Protocols. Adhere to appropriate uniform/dress code protocols. Maintain a professional attitude at all times while representing the Park. Possess a task-oriented, problem-solving attitude, willing to lead by example. Remain open to suggestions from staff on improving the Park's work environment, while aiding other staff in working towards our mission. Demonstrate personal flexibility, ensuring a progressive, dynamic work environment. Desired Qualifications High school or GED diploma, with 3-5 years handyman/maintenance experience required. Must being willing to receive TB test annually. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. Strong interest in care of buildings and grounds, with a minimum of three (3) years of experience. Experience with related equipment and vehicles preferred. Priority given to candidates holding applicable training, certifications or licenses. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Goal-oriented, exhibiting good follow-through and time management skills. Ability to work weekends, evenings and special events as scheduled or requested. Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform duties. Basic ability to repair and maintain Park equipment, structures and facilities. Ability to relate positively with a diverse staff and diverse groups of visitors. Able to follow written and verbal instructions and work with minimal supervision. Ability to perform basic math. Able to actively work in inclement weather conditions year-round. Additional Requirements Must obtain and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license upon employment. Successful completion of a post-offer background check, including criminal and driving records. Employees will be employed for a ninety (90) day probationary period. Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination; requires the ability to use department equipment, to communicate effectively; requires standing, walking, sitting (possibly for long periods of time) and performing repetitive tasks (including working on the computer) for up to the entire workday; requires the ability to lift/carry up to seventy (70) pounds using appropriate body mechanics. Visual, Hearing and Communication Requirements - Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form with all levels of personnel within and outside of the organization. Environmental Conditions - Working in an outdoor environment and, at times, a closed office environment where workspace may be shared. Working conditions may be noisy with fluctuating indoor and/or outdoor temperatures. May be exposed to a risk of bodily injury through contact with moving instrumentation, substances and other conditions common to an office or Safari Park environment. Subject to exposure to animals or guests which may have the potential for physical aggression. May be exposed to a risk of bodily injury through contact with moving instrumentation, toxic substances, bodily fluids, animal attack, communicable diseases, outdoor weather conditions and other conditions common in a Safari Park environment. Subject to unpleasant odors. May be exposed to wet/humid/sunny conditions. Pressure Factor - Requires working under stressful conditions. Moderate pressure to meet scheduled and recurring deadlines. Schedule The Park operates seven (7) days a week and will require flexibility of scheduling employees.
