Download and complete job application at https://www.franklincountyia.gov/how_do_i/apply_for_obtain/employment_opportunities.php Temporary - Summer 2026 The Franklin County Secondary Roads Department is accepting applications for two (2) individuals to operate a tractor-mower and/or dump truck for roadside maintenance within the County. You will report to the Hampton shed and travel within Franklin County to any of the Secondary Roads maintenance sheds as needed for machine maintenance and road work. This position will be under the supervision of the County Engineer and Secondary Roads Foreman. Positions are temporary for the summer 2026 season, expected to start in May with work completing in September. Full-time hours, 4-day work week (10-hour days) through Labor Day, otherwise Monday through Friday 7:00 am and 3:30 pm. Rate of pay starting from $22.62 - $23.53/hour, will consider experience. Required Qualifications, Physical Requirements, and Work Environment Minimum 18 years of age and a high school graduate. Must possess a current Iowa CDL with class B air brake endorsement, current insurance and a good driving record. Experience operating a tractor is helpful. Ability to lift 95 pounds. Must be capable of regular attendance. Ability to perform work in all types of weather conditions with exposure to dust, fumes, and loud noises. Ability to follow instructions, all safety rules, policies, and regulations, and communicate effectively. Position is contingent on successful completion of criminal background check, physical, and drug screen.
