Job Description
University of Iowa Housing & Dining is seeking a Building Maintenance Mechanic III. This position will be full time with a primary schedule of 8:00am-4:30pm Monday - Friday. May need to be on-call or work overtime as needed. This position would be responsible for the inspection and preventative maintenance and repair of commercial custodial equipment.
Job Duties:
Inspects, maintains, and makes operating repairs on electrical equipment and wiring, plumbing fixtures and pipe, heating, air conditioning and ventilating equipment, etc. Performs preventive maintenance on motors, pumps, and other equipment, and maintains appropriate records. Performs preventive maintenance and emergency repair work. Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, and equipment specifications. Performs work in related crafts areas as assigned. Assists in directing the work of others. Responds to calls for emergency repair services. Must be able to report within 1 hour to work location when on call. Minimum Eligibility Requirements Must possess a basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment. Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training. At least two years of that experience must be in the same craft.Special Qualification:
Valid driver's license and the ability to meet the UI Fleet Safety Driving Record Review Standards. Desirable Qualifications Experience inspecting and maintaining electrical equipment, plumbing fixtures, pipes, heating, air conditioning and ventilating equipment, etc. Ability to make repairs on electrical, plumbing and air conditioning equipment. Knowledge of preventative maintenance on motors, pumps, A/C units and plumbing systems; and maintains appropriate records. Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams and equipment specifications Capability to respond and communicate effectively with customers and co-workers. Safely operate tools and equipment of the electrical, mechanical and plumbing trades. Flexibility and willingness to perform emergency repair work during scheduled work hours and emergency repair work evenings and weekends when assigned to on-call duty.Application Details:
