Maintenance Mechanic Job Description The Maintenance Mechanic performs general maintenance and repairs on assigned equipment and machinery, with a strong focus on supporting high-quality production. This role inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment, particularly injection molding machines, to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation throughout the facility. Responsibilities Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair or maintenance. Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues to determine the necessary repairs. Perform general maintenance and repair work on production equipment, including injection molding machines. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete repairs and maintenance tasks. Support the production of quality products by keeping equipment in optimal working condition. Follow safety procedures and guidelines while working on equipment and throughout the facility. Document maintenance activities as required and communicate equipment issues to the appropriate personnel. Assist with additional maintenance tasks and projects as needed to support operations. Essential Skills 1-2 years of mechanical maintenance experience. Hands-on experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar mechanical role. Mechanical knowledge and the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues. Experience using hand tools and power tools for maintenance and repair. Ability to troubleshoot issues on production equipment, including injection molding machinery. Ability to stand on feet for the entire shift. Ability to climb ladders, bend, and crawl as needed to access equipment. Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with injection molding machines. Experience with plastic injection molding processes is a plus. Basic electrical knowledge is a plus. Experience working with electrical components related to industrial equipment is beneficial. Work Environment The role is based in a production and manufacturing environment working with industrial equipment, including injection molding machines. The schedule may include overtime, particularly on Fridays, with occasional half-day schedules depending on operational needs, so flexibility is important. Work is hands-on and physically active, involving standing for the full shift, climbing ladders, bending, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds while using hand and power tools around machinery. Safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial setting are expected at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mason City, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
