Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Septic Tank Technician and play a vital role in maintaining and servicing septic systems to ensure optimal functionality and environmental safety. This energetic position involves performing inspections, cleaning, repairs, and installations of septic tanks, leach fields, and related components. You will work on various construction sites and residential or commercial properties, utilizing heavy equipment and hand tools to deliver top-quality service. Your mechanical knowledge, safety awareness, and proactive approach will help keep systems running smoothly while adhering to industry standards and regulations. Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and bucket operation machinery to excavate, access, and service septic tanks efficiently. Conduct routine inspections of septic systems to identify issues related to blockages, leaks, or component failures. Perform cleaning and pumping of septic tanks using specialized vacuum trucks and hand tools. Execute repairs including welding, mechanical fixes, pipe replacements, and component installations with precision. Locate underground utilities using utility locating equipment before excavation to ensure safety. Engage in fiber splicing, cabling, electrical work involving low voltage and high voltage systems as needed for system upgrades or repairs. Rigging and climbing tasks may be required for accessing hard-to-reach areas or installing new components safely. Maintain detailed records of service activities, system conditions, parts used, and safety checks for each job site. Follow all safety protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), electrical safety procedures during wiring or cabling tasks, and adherence to OSHA standards. Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and bucket operation machinery. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot septic system issues effectively. Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools for repairs and maintenance tasks. Experience with utility locating techniques to prevent damage during excavation projects. Knowledge of electrical systems including low voltage wiring, high voltage safety practices, fiber splicing, cabling, and electrical experience is highly desirable. Ability to perform welding tasks safely and accurately when repairing or fabricating components. Construction site experience with an understanding of rigging procedures and climbing safety protocols. Familiarity with heavy equipment operation including dozer use for site preparation or grading tasks. Excellent physical condition with the ability to climb ladders or scaffolding as needed for system access or installation work. Strong attention to detail in documenting work performed and maintaining compliance with safety standards.
