Job Title:
Maintenance Technician (Mechanical and Electrical) Job Description This role focuses on industrial facilities repair and maintenance, with an emphasis on both mechanical and electrical systems. You will perform scheduled maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns, ensuring production machinery operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. The position suits an experienced technician who can work semi-independently, follow established procedures, and adapt when non-routine issues arise. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on a variety of production equipment to minimize unplanned downtime. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues to restore operation safely and efficiently. Assist with the setup and changeover of production lines as needed to support production schedules. Fabricate required machine parts, including metal components, using appropriate tools and fabrication techniques. Assemble machines and subassemblies when required, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and function. Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematic diagrams to plan and execute maintenance and repair tasks. Mechanically repair and maintain conveyors, screw machines, presses, cold headers, threaders, and related industrial equipment. Perform mechanical maintenance, including adjustment, replacement, and alignment of components such as bearings, belts, chains, and gears. Carry out electrical maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting motors, controls, and related components within your level of qualification. Use PLC troubleshooting techniques to help identify and resolve control system issues, in coordination with other technical resources as needed. Apply knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair associated systems and components. Perform basic welding and cutting operations to support repairs and fabrication of machine parts. Use machinist measurement tools correctly to verify dimensions and tolerances of fabricated or repaired parts. Document maintenance activities accurately and follow company policies and procedures for work orders, safety, and equipment care. Follow established procedures on routine work and seek guidance or instructions on new or unusual assignments. Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to prioritize work, resolve issues, and support continuous operation. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and adhere to all safety guidelines and lockout/tagout procedures. Demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and ownership by overcoming obstacles and completing assignments in a timely manner. Essential Skills Mechanical and electrical maintenance experience in an industrial environment, with 5-7 years preferred and a roughly 60/40 mechanical-to-electrical split. Hands-on experience with industrial mechanical troubleshooting and repair of production equipment. Proven ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment mechanically, including conveyors, screw machines, presses, cold headers, and threaders. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams for both mechanical and electrical systems. Practical experience with fabrication of metal parts for machines and production equipment. Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics and their application in industrial machinery. Experience with preventive maintenance practices for industrial equipment. Experience with electrical maintenance and electrical troubleshooting in an industrial setting. Ability to perform basic welding and cutting procedures safely and effectively. Competence in the correct use of machinist measurement tools to verify dimensions and tolerances. Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting concepts to assist in diagnosing control system issues. Strong time management skills with the ability to complete assignments within required timeframes. Positive attitude, good judgment, and a strong sense of responsibility and ownership over tasks. Capability to follow established procedures on routine work and adapt when assignments require deviation from standard practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with metals and metal fabrication in an industrial maintenance context. Experiance in industrial maintenance repair, including conveyors, motors, and related equipment. Exposure to industrial environments with a variety of machines such as conveyors, screw machines, presses, cold headers, and threaders. Comfort working in a semi-routine role that occasionally requires creative problem solving and deviation from standard practices. Ability to collaborate effectively with production and maintenance teams and communicate clearly about equipment status and needs. Strong sense of ownership for equipment performance and willingness to take initiative in resolving recurring issues. Why Work Here? The equipment you support includes conveyors, screw machines, presses, cold headers, threaders, and related industrial machinery, as well as motors and control systems that may involve PLC-based troubleshooting. The work involves both mechanical and electrical tasks, including fabrication, welding, and maintenance of metal parts. The environment emphasizes safety and proper use of tools and measurement equipment. Steel-toed boots are expected for safety, and uniforms are available for purchase so you can avoid wearing personal clothing on the shop floor. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Addison, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $83200.00
