Facilities Maintenance Technician Job Description The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs routine maintenance, repair, and basic cleaning tasks to keep the building safe, functional, and presentable. This role supports daily operations by addressing minor plumbing, HVAC, and facility issues, while also assisting with room setups for meetings and events. Responsibilities Perform routine facilities maintenance tasks throughout the building. Change light bulbs and ensure all lighting fixtures function properly. Identify and fix minor leaks and basic plumbing issues as needed. Replace air filters and support basic HVAC-related maintenance. Inspect the facility regularly for safety hazards and report issues promptly. Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and maintenance materials and restock when necessary. Set up rooms for meetings and events, including arranging furniture and equipment. Break down and reset rooms after meetings and events are completed. Clean designated areas and ensure trash is collected and removed regularly. Use basic hand tools safely and correctly to complete maintenance and repair tasks. Perform light painting, drywall patching, and touch-up work as needed. Support general building, industrial, and carpentry-related maintenance tasks within skill level. Essential Skills 2-3 years of experience in facilities maintenance or building maintenance. Hands-on experience with plumbing repairs and leak fixes. Basic HVAC maintenance experience, including replacing filters. Experience with routine repair work in an industrial or facility setting. Ability to perform light painting and drywall patching. General carpentry and building maintenance skills. Knowledge of safe use of hand tools for maintenance and repair tasks. Experience with cleaning tasks in a facility environment. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bilingual communication skills are a plus. Experience in industrial facilities or similar environments is beneficial. Background in service-oriented maintenance work is helpful. Ability to stay organized and maintain a clean, orderly work area. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based on-site in a clean, temperature-controlled, and well-organized facility. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work involves moving throughout the building to perform maintenance, cleaning, and room setup tasks, using standard hand tools and basic maintenance equipment in an orderly and safe environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bedford Park, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
