We are hiring a hands-on maintenance technician to keep our building systems reliable, address issues fast, and prevent breakdowns before they happen. Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team and ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities. Must be available for on-call emergency maintenance as scheduled (nights/weekends/holidays as needed) Responsibilities Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to manage automated systems within the facility. Perform welding tasks for repairs or fabrication projects as needed, ensuring safety standards are met. Spearhead painting projects to maintain facility aesthetics and cleanliness. Use tools such as ohmmeters and other diagnostic equipment to identify electrical faults accurately. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities. Supervise or assist in supervising other maintenance staff or contractors during projects or repairs. Lead small teams on specific projects, demonstrating leadership skills in facilities maintenance initiatives. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards while maintaining a secure environment. Requirements Proven experience in facilities maintenance within manufacturing or industrial settings. Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by electrical experience; familiarity with schematics is essential. Skilled in welding techniques with the ability to read technical drawings and blueprints. Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automation tasks. Knowledge of residential painting techniques is a plus for aesthetic upkeep projects. Proficient in using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and troubleshooting electrical systems. Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience managing maintenance teams or projects. Excellent communication skills in English to coordinate effectively across teams and document work clearly. Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals accurately. Familiarity with CMMS software for tracking work orders, inventory, and maintenance history is preferred. You will be responsible for day-to-day building maintenance and fast response in a 24/7 environment: Preventive maintenance (PMs): Execute scheduled PMs on building systems and document completion. Troubleshoot and repair issues to minimize downtime in a live 24/7 operation. Building systems upkeep:
Basic to intermediate support across: Electrical (basic circuits, lighting, outlets, ballasts) Plumbing (leaks, clogs, fixtures, valves) HVAC support (filters, belts, basic troubleshooting, liaise with contractors) Doors, locks, hardware, and general carpentry repairs Safety + compliance: Perform work consistent with site safety rules, LOTO (if applicable), and any required checklists. Vendor coordination:
Escort and coordinate contractors, verify scope completion, and report issues. Work order management:
Use a CMMS or ticket system to track requests, notes, parts used, and time. Site walk-throughs:
Spot problems before they become failures (noise, heat, vibration, leaks, wear). Inventory + parts: Maintain basic parts inventory and request reorders. Facility presentation:
Keep critical areas clean, functional, and professional (minor grounds work if needed). Required Experience + Qualifications 5+ years experience in building/facilities maintenance (commercial, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, or similar) Strong troubleshooting ability across multiple trades (you do not need to be a licensed electrician or plumber unless your site requires it) Comfortable working independently in a 24/7 environment with real-time operational pressure Basic computer skills (email, mobile apps, work order systems) Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Trade certifications or coursework (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., UpKeep, Maintenance Connection, Fiix, ServiceChannel, etc.) Forklift or lift certification Prior experience in regulated environments (food, pharma, data center, medical) if relevant Bilingual (Spanish/English) if relevant for your workforce What Success Looks Like (KPIs) We will evaluate performance using clear, objective outcomes: Response time: Acknowledge and respond to urgent requests within [45 minutes ] when on duty/on call.
