TekPro is partnered with a successful, global manufacturing company in their search for a skilled maintenance technician for one of their plants in the Des Plaines, IL area! Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Electro-Mechanical Technician to join our night shift maintenance team. This position is critical to maintaining production uptime by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing both electrical and mechanical systems within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial automation, machinery maintenance, and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities Perform troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, and control systems on production and facility equipment. Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals to diagnose faults accurately. Maintain and service a wide range of equipment including motors, pumps, gearboxes, PLCs, chillers, and compressors. Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability. Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, PLC software, and other testing equipment to assess system performance. Document all maintenance work performed using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Support production teams by responding promptly to maintenance-related issues during night operations. Ensure all work is completed in compliance with plant safety standards and regulations, including Lockout/Tagout procedures. Assist with inventory control and maintain proper organization of tools and spare parts. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and reliability-focused maintenance practices. Qualifications 3+ years of experience as an electro-mechanical or industrial maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of both electrical and mechanical systems, including troubleshooting AC/DC motors, sensors, relays, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), motor controls, and industrial automation systems. Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Familiarity with flexible packaging equipment (extrusion, lamination, flexographic printing, slitting) is highly desirable. Comfortable working independently on night shift and responding to emergency breakdowns. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions (climbing, bending, standing for long periods). Forklift certification or willingness to become certified. High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, or related field preferred.
