$21.00 / hour Full-time/Part-Time (non-exempt)

Property Manager / Director of Maintenance About Us Are you a skilled, hands-on fixer who takes pride in seeing a job done right? The Housing Authority of the City of East St. Louis (ESLHA) is looking for a versatile Maintenance Mechanic II . In this role, you won't just turn wrenches, you will ensure our residents have safe, comfortable, and beautiful places to call home. If you thrive on variety, value job stability, and love solving problems, we want you on our team! What You'll Do No two days are the same. You will use your multi-trade expertise to handle both minor emergency fixes and preventative property care:
Unit Transitions:
Complete vibrant vacant unit preparations, including tear-outs, critical repairs, and final cleanings to welcome new families.
Structures & Surfaces:
Patch walls, replace ceilings, install windows, carpentry, and handle interior/exterior painting.
Plumbing & Mechanical:
Unclog major kitchen/bath fixtures, repair pipes, and maintain appliances (stoves, fridges, water heaters).
HVAC & Electrical:
Keep systems running smoothly by replacing filters, light fixtures, switches, and troubleshooting residential heating/cooling units.
Curb Appeal:
Operate riding mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers to keep our community grounds clean, safe, and beautifully landscaped.
What You Bring Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent (Trade school diploma or certificate is a big plus!).
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in building maintenance or property management repairs. Certified training can count toward this!
Skills:
A solid working knowledge of household tools, motorized yard equipment, auger/sewer gear, and paint sprayers.
Requirements:
You must maintain a valid Driver's License throughout your employment and be ready to safely respond to after-hour emergency calls when needed.
