Up to $38 p/h - Maintenance Technician - Modern Food Processing Facility (Illinois)
THIRD SHIFT
Our client is seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Maintenance Technician to support operations at their high-tech modern processing facility. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of production and site infrastructure in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will bring strong electrical, mechanical, and automation expertise , combined with a proactive mindset and the ability to lead maintenance activities during breakdowns, shutdowns, and improvement projects. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency. Maintain and repair food-processing machinery including conveyor systems, packaging lines, slicers, mixers, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems . Diagnose and troubleshoot faults using electrical schematics, PLC logic, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals . Work confidently with PLC-controlled and automated equipment , including sensors, VFDs, HMIs, and safety circuits. Carry out electrical, mechanical, and fabrication repairs , including welding and component replacement. Support maintenance of refrigeration systems, boilers, compressed air systems, and site utilities (where licensed/qualified). Lead and coordinate maintenance tasks during breakdowns, shutdowns, and improvement projects, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. Supervise contractors and support junior team members, reinforcing best-practice maintenance and safety standards. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inspection reports within the CMMS. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by assisting with maintenance strategies, reliability upgrades, and root-cause analysis . Act as a professional internal service provider, responding promptly to production needs while maintaining food safety and compliance.
