The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing intermediate-level CNC maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to ensure reliable and efficient operation of production equipment and facility systems. This role is critical in minimizing downtime, maintaining machine readiness, and supporting a safe, high-performing manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Technician works independently on routine maintenance and collaborates with maintenance team members, engineering, production, and external service providers on more complex issues. Key Responsibilities Preventive Maintenance Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) including lubrication, inspection, adjustments, and component replacement Conduct routine equipment cleaning (coolant tanks, machine interiors, debris removal) Inspect critical components such as drawbars, spindles, and tool interfaces Document all maintenance activities for traceability and continuous improvement Troubleshooting & Repair Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems Utilize diagnostic tools including multimeters, dial indicators, and precision measuring instruments Recover machines from faults including ATC (Automatic Tool Changer) and APC (Automatic Pallet Changer) issues, crashes, and minor program errors Repair or replace components such as motors, pumps, valves, solenoids, sensors, and actuators Identify and resolve coolant, air, and hydraulic leaks Technical Skills & Documentation Read and interpret electrical diagrams, hydraulic/pneumatic schematics, and mechanical drawings Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and parts usage Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action efforts Safety & Compliance Follow all safety policies, including lockout/tagout procedures Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards Collaboration & Communication Work closely with production to prioritize and resolve equipment issues Communicate effectively with engineering, OEM technicians, and vendors Provide input on improving equipment reliability and maintenance processes Experience Proven experience in industrial maintenance with a focus on CNC machinery within manufacturing environments. Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by electrical experience including low voltage systems, high voltage safety protocols, and industrial electrician skills. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), sensors, calibration techniques, schematics reading, AutoCAD drawings, and vision inspection systems. Hands-on experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, sensors, calibration tools, and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers or calipers. Knowledge of industrial maintenance best practices in high-volume production settings; military background is a plus for discipline and technical foundation. Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues involving high voltage systems safely while adhering to all safety protocols. Experience providing field service support for CNC equipment or similar automated manufacturing machinery is highly desirable.
