Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician repairs, maintains, and improves production and facility equipment in a clean, GMP-compliant manufacturing environment. This role focuses primarily on mechanical systems with some electrical work, supporting production operations by troubleshooting equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance, and completing work orders in a computerized maintenance management system. Responsibilities Repair, maintain, and modify production and facility equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Perform mechanical troubleshooting on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, gear reducers, motors, and conveyors. Support production teams with melting, refining, and other operational needs as requested by production supervisors or lead operators. Generate, complete, and close work orders using a computerized maintenance management system. Carry out established preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance activities on equipment and systems. Identify and recommend opportunities to improve equipment reliability, performance, and maintainability. Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to diagnose and resolve issues. Troubleshoot basic electrical problems related to industrial equipment as part of the mechanical/electrical maintenance mix. Perform general facility maintenance tasks, including basic plumbing and painting, as needed. Collaborate with production and maintenance leadership to prioritize work orders and minimize equipment downtime. Adhere to all safety procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and contribute to a safe work environment. Essential Skills 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical industrial experience Proficiency in troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including pumps, gear reducers, and related components. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics. Experience troubleshooting issues with pumps, motors, and conveyors in an industrial setting. Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment. Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system to generate, log, and close work orders and PMs. Basic electrical maintenance skills for industrial equipment, including PLC troubleshooting support as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with food manufacturing requirements, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Fabrication skills, including basic metal work and equipment modifications. Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues. Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with production, maintenance, and leadership teams. Work Environment This role is based in a clean, GMP-compliant liquid chocolate manufacturing facility. The environment can be hot due to the production of liquid chocolate, and employees follow strict food safety and cleanliness standards. You will work around industrial production equipment and maintenance tools, using a computerized maintenance management system and related software to manage work orders and preventive maintenance. The dress code includes wearing a smock, hairnet, beard net (if applicable), safety glasses, and steel toe boots to meet safety and GMP requirements. The facility emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures while maintaining a collaborative and production-focused atmosphere. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Robinson, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
