Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technician - South Holland , IL - Up to $40 per hour + OT Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support food manfacturing facility in South Holland (IL). This is a hands-on, multi-craft role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing high-speed production and converting equipment, as well as supporting general plant facilities and utilities. The position is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production and packaging equipment Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems Support high-speed equipment including printing presses, laminators, slitters, and conveyors Diagnose and resolve issues with motors, drives, sensors, and PLC-controlled systems Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects Maintain and repair plant utilities and building systems (air, water, lighting, HVAC support) Respond to production downtime events and prioritize repairs to minimize disruptions Follow lockout/tagout, safety, and GMP standards applicable to packaging environments Accurately document maintenance activities using CMMS or maintenance logs Work closely with production, engineering, and operations teams Required Qualifications Experience in industrial maintenance within a food manufacturing environment Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment (troubleshooting only) Knowledge of motors, drives, sensors, pneumatics, and hydraulics Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-speed manufacturing environment Willingness to work second shift and respond to urgent maintenance needs Preferred Qualifications Experience in packaging, printing, converting, or film manufacturing Technical degree, apprenticeship, or formal trade training Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems Work Environment Manufacturing and production floor environment Exposure to moving machinery, noise, and industrial equipment Requires standing, walking, lifting, and working with tools for extended periods Compensation & Benefits Up to $40 per hour, paid hourly Stable, long-term opportunity with an established manufacturer Strong maintenance culture with ongoing investment in equipment and facilities Benefits package available (details provided during interview process)
