Job Description

Drainage Maintenance Technician 313 West Jefferson Street, Decatur, IN 46733 $24.54 an hour - Full-time $24.54 an hour - Full-time Principal Function The Drainage Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and management of county drainage systems and related infrastructure. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Inspects, maintains, and repairs legal drains, tile systems, ditches, catch basins, and related drainage infrastructure. Operates heavy equipment, vehicles, and hand tools to perform drainage and erosion control work. Locates, maintains, and documents drainage systems, cornerstones, and property markers. Coordinates projects with contractors, utility companies, landowners, and government agencies. Performs routine maintenance on assigned equipment and vehicles. Completes related reports, work orders, inspections, and other administrative duties. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED required. Related experience preferred. A Class A or B CDL with air brake endorsement is required within one year of employment. Other Skills and Abilities Ability to safely operate heavy equipment, vehicles, and hand tools. Knowledge of drainage systems, watersheds, and land surveying principles. Ability to read maps, plans, and geographic information. Ability to communicate effectively with landowners, contractors, and the public. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office; GIS experience preferred. Ability to work independently, adapt to changing conditions, and attend required training.
